Hello my most trusted Tacoma advisers!
I have had my 2013 Tacoma for about 72 hours now, and I noticed this sound every time i shut off the ignition. It sounds like something sucking in air. I have attached a video from today, in hopes that it helps?
obviously, I'd like some guidance on if this is something to be concerned with. And if so, how concerning?

    Thank you in advance.

That's the secondary air injection system. It's on 12+ for emissions, and is normal.

Do this mod to it sooner rather than later.

Besides looking like a great place for water to get in while in high water, whats the purpose of these things?

Out of curiosity, how often should the uni-filter be replaced?

Probably never. It's not like the original foam filter was a maintenance item. I'd just blow it out with compressed air from time to time and call it good.

Hahaha, I’m actually laughing that you caught that, because I don’t even know why I would stand like that to take a picture, and I shook my head when I saw my reflection after uploading the pics.

I’m going to be self conscious now. LOL

I just replaced mine with the Uni-Filter this past weekend. It took about 20 minutes. If you have a T25 Torx bit, it's a pretty easy and straight forward job. I did have to pinch a little bit of the foam gasket out of the outer cover. It interfered with the Uni-Filter just a little bit.

Is this a common problem? I have never heard of this before.

Glad I found this thread! I just purchased a 2015 Tacoma over the weekend and when I got home and shut the truck down I heard the sound.

    Just bought one too!

    Hey Guys! (@EatSleepTacos )
I completed the uni filter mod over the weekend, and the secondary air injection pump still makes the same sound as before. Does this mean that the pump is bad?

@winkel - when you replaced yours, did the sound stop?

    Thanks.

That’s just the sound the pump makes. It’s 100% normal and nothing to worry about.
