I went and looked at the 3rd gen 4runner stuff.

 

Exactly haha. The only aircraft I can think of with the sound I heard is an Osprey. Didn't have the pop of chopper, didn't sound completely like airplane props.

 

Most test flights require a chase aircraft, especially at night. What you describe seems to be normal testing activity.

I no longer work for RTC, so I can't check the flight schedule or routes of flight for yesterday to see if they came from here.

I'm sure that's exactly what it was. It was strange to see an aircraft without the normal strobes and lights though. We are located under normal flight paths for approach to Atlanta. Sometimes those airliners are really low. Not to mention aircraft from Auburn.

I was trying to find information of the Low Range U-bolt flip and the first thing i came across was your thread.

 

We had Osprey fly over us last summer. Only did for about two weeks or so, guess they were doing training out of Montgomery. They definitely have a distinctive sound.

 

1300 long coat and i believe half for short coat 650..

from what I've saw that's under most dogs.

have all shots for the year and all records documented. Null claw cut at birth and I'm not sure what else.

Could come take a look at them.

 

When flying in formation (together, as a flight of two), the lead will never run strobes, just position lights. Strobes at a close distance for an extended period of time, can cause vertigo to the crew of the trail aircraft.

@rmepilot @drjenkins If I knew how to operate my DSLR properly I would have gotten some good video and I didn't even think about grabbing the go pro. The night lapse video would have been perfect to be able to see what I was looking at.

 

That explains it then. Pretty neat to see, I just wish I could have SEEN what the smaller aircraft was

 

haha yep I had to do some modifying to the plates, for the 2.5 shocks.

 

Willing to bet that was the pair that flew over here a little after that.
