I know everyones got their own opinion but does anyone not like the chrome or color keyed bumper, fenders, and grill? I would like to get the SR5 and TRD offroad packages for all the bells and whistles, but I think the black grill and fenders look better. Kind of the way the new 4 Runner off road model is. So does anyone else feel Toyota did it backwards?

I agree that I like the black fenders better. Ticked me off cuz I wanted the SR5 options, but with black fenders. I was partial to either silver or white because I loved the contrast of the black fenders on them.
In the end, I went with a Pyrite SR5, and really love the look of it, but I still admire the black fender look on the lighter colored Tacos.

I like the colored key fenders over the black ones, but then I don't like black steel rims that most people here find "sick" looking.

My opinion is that textured plastic pieces always looked to me like it was the base model of a particular vehicle. The poster boy for this is the 1st gen Honda Elements or Avalanche's.

Chrome is ok but sort of dated, and the mono look really keeps a vehicle toned down and I like it.

If you off-road, I would think chrome would be better than painted. Paint would get messed up way too easy off-road, going thru trees, bushes, etc...

My former Tacoma was an SR5 V6 Prerunner that was black sand with matching painted trim. Had a person rear end me going home from work and that was the end of that. I now have a AC non SR5 or TRD but auto V6 4X4 with the standard black trim. No question the black trim was a draw for me. It's unquestionably lower maintenance than the painted trim. Bug splatter does not show as bad and seems easier to remove vs painted or chrome. When I go to the deer lease the black trim does not show briar scratches like the painted trim going down overgrown roads and trails. The painted trim looks really good, but so does black. Mine is perfectly suited to my needs and having owned both am very happy with my current Taco.

Imho I think chrome makes a truck look like a truck, and makes it look like it was built well and not with a bunch of plastic parts.

Don't like chrome myself either. A big part of why I went with the Sport. That and I won't be doing any hardcore off roading. Just having 4x4 was all I was worried about.
