Should have done a little more research before i decided to install my lift. I am getting some pretty noticeable vibration. From what i can tell its the infamous CV shaft needle bearing. I am still under factory warranty as well as an extended service warranty, my question is if i took it to the dealership and told them of the issue would they put the replacement bushing in place of the needle bearing? I dont have any doubt i could do it myself but would like to have it covered under warranty if possible.

Depends on the dealer. My local dealer replaced the needle bearing under warranty. They said it was a 1 time deal, and after that the bushing would be the only replacement they would do, but I would be on the hook for parts and labor.

Definitely go in with a cool head and be respectful, you will definitely get further that way than trying to raise hell about warranty this and lemon that, lol.

For sure wont be going in all heated about it, technically lifting the 3 inches in the front that i did is what is causing it anyway as it didnt do it before, that being said I wouldnt want another needle bearing put in there anyway as it will eventually fail i feel. Better off just forking up the cash and putting the ECGS bushing in there.

Good call, the service advisor said I would be luck to get ~200 miles out of the new needle bearing. So far I have maybe ~1k miles on it with no notice of noise/failure, but as soon as I get back to the states I will be ordering the ECGS to have it ready for the install.

    Good luck with your dealer!

I have at least 5-8,000 miles on my replacement needle bearing without issue (for what it's worth).

so I have heard that you only get the vibrations above a 1.5" front end lift or up? I have been told if I stay under 1.5" it does not usually vibrate...any truth to this?

Lot of factors besides front end lift. Rear messes with your axle and driveshaft angles, unless you're putting a bro lift on

Forget the factory needle bearing and go with the ecgs one. ;)

Stock trucks still have issues with the needle bearings. I had mine replaced at 300 miles all stock. It was missing a few bearings. Replaced and now with 17k its making the same noises and vibrations. Onto ecgs

Yeah, for some people it fails instantly, for some it'll last a while. I did my bushing swap on a preventative basis.

Yep. First taco, waited a while. Second, preventative. OP i would definitely skip the dealer and go right to ECGS. permanent fix.

Ive heard about them failing with no lift at all, mine had no vibrations whatsoever before i put my lift on. Even then it was hardly noticeable for a while, today I could definitely feel it driving to work. Instead of kinda like a wah-wah-wah every now and again, it was constant vibration. Kinda scared to drive it to much until i get my ECGS in.:boom:

How noticeable is the needle bearing failure vibration?

If I’d had noisier tires on mine I doubt I’d have noticed it at all. Only around 40-ish mph as I remember and subtle.

I doubt the OP will get the ECGS installed by the dealer under warranty. I think the best deal might be to have whoever installed the lift to do it with OP providing the bushing.

I suffered the same buyers remorse after making an uncharacteristically hasty decision to throw a lift on. I’m happy now but will still upgrade some components sooner rather than later.
