    It's a cake walk they are a small NPT thread. On the package of the taps they give you the drill size. Drill a hole in the bushing sleeve then slowly tap the hole and after a turn or 2 turn it counter clockwise a quarter turn to break the chips and clear them continue until through. Then just thread the zerk in.

    To figure out if it's your balljoint or bushings you can either use your hand or a long metal rod. The hand method you are feeling for binding/grinding sometimes best to wear earplugs if you haven't done it before so your sense of feel is hightened and not tricked by the noise. The rod is used like a stethescope put one end on the bushing sleeve or balljoint and the other up to your ear and listen where the noise is the loudest is where the noise is coming from.

    I think my ball joints might have too much grease right now. But I don't know if that's the cause of the squeak or if it's the bushings. I don't know what happened to my grease gun when I moved so I think I need to go buy another, and new grease.

    What's the grease to use for UCA balls?

    A good moly grease it works as a good universal grease. I've been using it for decades without issue.

    Looks like synthetic grease is the way to go. That thread could be wrong, but that’s what searching pulled up.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/greasing-lr-uca-zerk.436505/

    Could be the bushings, could be the ball joint. Start with the easy one (ball joint) and if that doesn’t solve it could be the bushings or something else.

    It very well may just be the balls. If I over greased them last time, is there a way to "purge" out grease and replace with new grease? Or do I just need to let it ooze itself out?

    Just pump enough in until you see the boot swell a little bit. I always got annoyed at techs when I saw them grease the shit out of joints until it oozed out of the boots. Once the boot gets opened up like that it is a pathway for dust and dirt to ingress and then that shit will act like sand paper on a joint. That's just my way of doing it though there are other schools of thought on it. That pumping it until the old grease oozes out it a good thing because it will replace it with new. Up to you though.

    I think that's where I fucked up last time, I put in too much and it started oozing out. I'll go clean up the boot today and take a look. Need to find a HF thats close by to pick up a new grease gun and grease

    I went back in 2000 with a 4 door 4 cylinder Golf. I was floored at how well those little VW’s can go when the suspension is engaged and your shifting when your RPM gauge is red lining.:burnrubber:

    Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
    Am I the resident Ford guy now? lol

    @FletchLax

    depending on overall weight, any of the 2.7EB/3.5EB/5.0 should handle it well. heavier trailer towing for longer distances may be better w/ the 5.0 due to the others being in boost a lot to keep up. the MPGs not towing would definitely favor the EBs, but still not too bad in the 5.0. the 17s got the 10spd on the 3.5EB and the 18s got the 10spd on the 3 main engines (excluding the 3.5 or 3.3 NA motors) and that 10spd bumped the MPGs up by 1-2 on each engine.

    Hey everybody, would any of you happen to have a softopper? Thinking of getting one, but I'd like to actually like to lay eyes on one before dropping that much coin on one.
