What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Haha nice! I think a hard shell is more my speed. Coildnt stand the drawbacks of a soft shell. Just need to save up. The hard tops seem a bit pricier

Did you change the complete wiring harness or did you use the one from the truck? I’m debating on just getting a wiring harness/ECU from an 04 MT so everything will plug in instead of cutting my old harness.

 

I used a ecu from an 01 Mt and just removed the pins that weren't needed.

That guy pulls in nearly all the wrecked tacomas I've seen on Denver craigslist. I need to get a fan shroud from him, but he wants like 75 bucks

Get a depinning tool and possibly remove the passenger seat, my ribs hated me for like 2 weeks after.

Just need to make sure it's from the same year, each year had a different pinout

 

Jeff Miller Auto Parts. I used carparts.com to find the ECU and it was the cheapest there. I gave them a call and we worked everything out. Awesome customer service. The guy dropped the price without asking and guaranteed it will work.

 

Pulled my roof rack off today, to clean and paint. Very disappointed in the quality of the powdercoating on this Curt basket rack. Below is a before and after shot. Bear in mind, this rack is less than two years old. Lots of rust at the joints, and welds, and faded to dirty gray. I am going to be using 3 cans of Rustoleum Truck Bed Coating. Judging from a brush guard that I painted two years ago, it should hold up one helluva lot better.

 

I painted my sliders with that and it’s pretty damn tough. Should last a while on the roof rack

cut and hammered my pinch weld but the driver side tire still rubs a lot at full lock. cant imagine how itll be at stuff. thinking of adjusting the caster to increase space between the pinch weld and tire. is this a bad idea? I have LR UCAs so I was just going to adjust it that way and then bring it to firestone.
