    It's DLX son!
I would rather do the inside, so if it's not perfect I don't have to look at it as often as the outside. Also would expect less wear and tear on the inside surface.

I'll probably wait and see if it's even something that seems worth doing. Once a side panel or two are opened up it's not going to make a difference, and I don't see myself hanging out inside with the sides and back all closed up all that often.

If GFC comes out with an interior insulation kit, that could present another opportunity to change the interior color.

Not a big concern at this point. Heck they could offer it in one color only and I probably still would have been down.

Up here in the Northwest, condensation can be a problem. Insulation is a necessity, especially if you travel/camp in the Winter and shoulder seasons and use a heater.

So cool that ours are the same as the 2nd gen frames, and incidentally the 3rd gen ones as well.

The bedcaps on a second/third gens are actually almost 3/4" narrower than a first gen.

If you measure from the outside edge, but our bed rails are much narrower.

Let me clarify. The width of the bed on a second gen, cargo rail to cargo rail (as the rails are what the camper attaches to), is 56.75"

On a first gen, bed cap to bed cap is 57.25" IIRC. I sold my first gen a year and a half ago so I can't go run out and confirm it, but the bed itself is narrower on the newer tacomas

Yeah you're spot on with that 57.25". Mine is 6 feet away and i measured.

Someone go measure their 2nd gen to satisfy my curiosity.

I spoke to Graeme last week, and he explained they setup the frames based on the inside measurements of the bed for the 2nd gens, which is why it worked. :notsure:

I did measure my second gen.

It looks like he is slotting the mounting feet and if he uses a clamp on the bottom side for the first gens and the slot allows enough lateral movement to slide outward to accommodate the extra 1/2” it should work just as well.

Maybe I don't follow, but what do the cargo rails have to do with it? Doesn't matter if that's where attaches if it sits on the bedrails, which I assume are wider.

 I think we're on the same page now.

I see how if you were making a bed rack, that dimension between the cargo rails is the one you'd want to base it off of. Here it seems you should be comparing without them.

    Graeme,
I noticed that GF is going to be a vendor at the NW Overland Rally. Hope to see you there. Will there be a XL in attendance?
