Holy shit 4!? Well I hate to say it but you may need to cut it again. He's going to burn up his radio if he is running that high. Unless the Coax is pinched or kinked somewhere. I'm assuming you doublechecked how it was dressed? I know it sounds stupid, but after you cut it, still take 3 readings at 3 different heights in the mount. Not sure how much you can take off of one of those 3 footers, but I'm assuming after an inch you're toast.

 

His coax might be pinched, the thing I don't get is that is swr is low and good on the first half of channels. When I tuned mine all three readings were close, his are way off one of another. Could it be his radio?

 

It could be. If youre willing to be a good friend, throw your CB in there and see if you can duplicate it. Generally though if you have good on channel 1 and terrible on channel 40 its a length issue (something manual drivers have *cough* Randy). Just make sure you are taking the measurements correctly. Ex. open space, low chance of interference, doors and windows shut.

Thats usually half of our conversation. I work next Tuesday, Friday and Saturday! I could do Wednesday!

 

Greens and blues. We'll have a stock jeep wrangler with us (literally bone stock) so we'll be taking it easier. Mostly just exploring since I haven't been to AOAA very much.
