Too much rain to be able to fish lately. Water is too high and looks like chocolate milk. Everywhere around me has been flooded. Luckily we aren’t flooding. Yet.

Send some up this way...we only had 1/2" of rain for the entire month of May.

I think there was measurable rain 16 days in May. We got over 7” for the month.

I’m fishing in a fly only / biggest snook tournament later this month. I’m tying up a bunch of these guys as my “go to” patterns.

I’ve done ok with a weighted black bugger along the banks with high water.

I have no issue with high water. I love fishing it. It’s the chcocokate milk water that I don’t do too well in. A little stain is good, but when you can’t see 2” into the water, it gets tough.

This thread needs some life...I'll start. one of my most productive pond flies is the Hornberg. My version is a version that was used by my great uncle back in the 40's & 50's here in western Maine on some quite famous trout and salmon waters. It's very different than the current/modern version. I'll share.

    Modern version:

My version (carefully copied from those old patterns):

Went to Rosco NY last weekend. The water was a little warm, and the big trout were reluctant to feed. i got 30 smaller browns in the net! image.jpg

We need some serious facking rain! Rivers are low & warm....resembles late July/August conditions.

    :annoyed:

Back to fishing ponds as those are holding up nicely as most are spring fed.

I love the White. My favorite place to go for fishing. If I can afford it, I’ll be making another trip there this fall (my 14th or 15th trip there.)

Was site seeing in Charleston this morning and this stud Redfish was swimming around at the pier at Patriot’s Point. Wish I had a rod to go after him

The White is incredible. Charlestown would be good as well.

I've been doing a bit of small stream fly fishing out here in Southern Utah when I get the chance. Last week I was able to scare up a few brook trout and Bonneville cutthroats. Both were new species for me. It is a shame that these fish don't get all that big this far south. 4D8904AA-39CA-4410-99A3-6309B9E53B71.jpg

I’ve done decent on the white. Never anything gigantic. Most on the spinning gear instead of fly gear, unfortunately...but whatever. If I’m catching fish I’m happy.

Has anyone in Colorado fished the Rio Grande near South Fork recently? I have a float fishing trip planned there next weekend and it looks like the flow is waaayyyy down for this time of year (currently running about 300cfs). I'm worried it's not going to be floatable. I can always wade but I'd rather raft!

Any intel would be greatly appreciated.
