    You 04B11?

If so, looks like we have 04B11,04B12 and 2018 (whatever the fuck they are) ECUs covered for this test/dev of 1.05 M/T "power tune".

Okay guys and gals, I am very interested in tuning. I have a 17’ OR MT and the GF has a 17’ Sport a/t. I drive hers quite a bit.

Is it me or did Toyota throw the ECU mapping out the window on the MT trucks? I know the gearing differences and such. But hers feels like it lugs up hills better than mine! Gets better mileage overall.

Say we are going up a slight incline at around 50-55 and I can hold 6th in hers and have it lug but hold speed fine, her mileage would drop to about 15mpg during that instance. With mine I have to be in 5th to not feel like it’s falling on its face. And trying to just hold speed my mileage would drop 10-11mpg.

But on a very steep hill I can hold 4th on and hers would downshift to 3rd and rev way out. I can def tell the gearing difference there.

Just feel like with the better gearing it still doesn’t put the power down well. I know what diff gears feel like cause I regeared my 1st gen from 4.10s to 4.88s.

Just wondering if anyone else has the same experiences as me. Hope my truck isn’t just a dud of a motor.

Please no hate, Ive always had stick shift Tacoma’s (3rd one) but this 3rd gen feels like my 4cyl 1st gen on 36’s....

I have had three 4cyl Tacomas all on 32s or 33s. There is no comparison. This 3.5, although tuned goofy, has way more power and driveability. Hills I had to pull in third I can pull in 5th with my 2016.

do you have any complaints regarding linear throttle control while driving your MT? the driveability and non-linear throttle were the big focus for this tune since the beginning, although power is definitely increased, but better than that is on tap and more usable now.

It could be that I went from daily driving a tuned duramax to a 3rd gen. My 1st gen hasn’t seen the road in a few years so driving that could be a faint memory. Wish I had another 3rd gen stick I could drive. Just driving her sport a auto feels more livable. I know going from the stock tires to my 255s I didn’t get much power loss.

I know I’m my 1st 4cyl with 4.88s and 33s I could lite the tires up rolling through 1st and turning (no clutch drop).

Yes the power curve sucks! I’m wondering if there’s a huge dip in power from 2,000 - 2,300rpms. Where her auto could be utilizing better power in the 1600-1900 range? Maybe the such delayed throttle is making fee weak with a 100% connected system where the auto has the torque converter that dumbs the delay down?

yeah i suggest you read through this thread. the tune will maximize the motor for you, and the throttle response and power curves are pretty linear as well. it's not a subtle change from stock, it's significant.

Won’t be able to pull the trigger until fall. But that will give me time to read through the 331 pages hahaha.

Anyone have any videos of any pulls with the tune besides what matt has on the 1st page?

3rd Gen OR suspension, wheels and tires all 4 corners.
I bought my TRDOR with 5000 Miles, and also hated the shifting. I’ve put about 2500 miles on it now, and either I’ve learned it, or it’s learned me. No troubles making smooth shifts all day now, and at any RPM range.

Tuned duramax vs 3rd gen is a much bigger difference than a 4cyl vs a v6. Tuned duramax will make the v6 feel like a Hugo.

If you like the truck stock, well that's great and I believe you. No need to spend the money on this tune. If you feel you want something more, well you're in the right place!

That statement is only true using 91 octane fuel on the 91 tune. Power (HP or torque) is the same using 87 octane on the 87 tune. Unfortunately our gas prices are high here and using 91 cost about $10-$15 more on a full tank of fuel so rarely do I use the 91 which makes the tune pointless to me.
