It was a lot of fun. He was at the end of a run under an overhanging tree. As soon as the bug hit the water, he came out and sipped it and immediately went to the fast water. Didn’t know how the 3wt was going to handle it in the current.

Did my annual mental reset solo fishing trip to northern NH last weekend. Floated both the Andro and CT rivers in my new raft. Caught a bunch of fish from both rivers, but hammered them on the CT in Pittsburg (not floating) czech nymphing. Went to the Rapid River one morning and didn't see a fish or get a bump (usually can trick a dumb small salmon at least). Only a couple other people fishing it, and didn't see them hook up either. I'll be back... can't let it win.

So I've got a first world problem. I was awarded some Amazon gift cards from work, and can not decide what fly rod I "need" next. Most of my fishing is small stream brookies. Thinking I want a lightweight glass rod. I have always had a boner for the redington butter stick. Trouble is I cant decide on specs, thinking I'd want the 6' 2wt (think brookies) I already have a 6" 2wt graphite (TFO) and a 7' 3wt glass (custom one I built). The other thought is Tenkara....too many options. Who has a butter stick, is it worth 250? Tenkara guys, chime in too. Thanks!

My primary fishing style is tenkara. Love it.
Have not heard of a butter stick. Have a link?
@Sig45 just got a tenkara rod. Think he paid a very good price for his.

edit: just found some info on the "butterstick"

    * If you are going with tenkara, go with a traditional tenkara rod made with tenkara in mind. IMO.

I've definitely had a strong interest in Tenkara also, like I said, the majority of my fishing is small to tiny stream fishing for brookies in the "mountains" of PA. So I get that you say tp go with a traditional tenkara rod, but as a beginner I'm thinking i'll go with a more "starter" level. and since I have a bunch of Amazon gift cards I would look there, does dragontail make a decent product?

    Small streams/brooks are perfect.
Yes, Dragontail makes some solid stuff.
Will poke around on Amazon to see what else they have.

There’s a second video in that same post. Didn’t take the chubby, but it took the rubber legs. Got her to the net.

58 days until my 2 week DIY Alaska back country float trip. All my gear is organized and has an allocated river/dry bag. Double & triple checked against my lists. Packing up most and shipping in advance in a few weeks. So excited!!

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Blue Ridge.

Local guide went to the keys and fished on Waypoint TV with a guy, and they traded out trips, so he came up and fished for trout in Blue Ridge.

They caught this one after the cameras stopped rolling

He asked me a little while back if I wanted to help them out some and take some guiding trips sometime. I’m not a big fan of guiding, honestly. I’ve tried it. It’s not for me.

I don’t think that fish has ever skipped the opportunity to eat anything.
