Hey Chris I have a question for you! When you did the headers on your 2.7, did you notice if the head of the engine was in aluminum? I woke up this morning, wanting to pull the trigger on headers, but if the manifold bolts are in an aluminum head, I may reconsider my wants lol it may be seized af and I don't want to break a bolt in the head...

The studs are locked into the head all you remove is the nuts. Spray with penetrating oil first.

There are very few vehicles made today that don't have aluminum heads and blocks. Like what Chris said is penetrating oil and let it soak. Also get you a MAP gas torch from the harware store a little heat also helps if the nuts are seized to the stud. You can buy new studs and they are usually an inverse torx bit or little 4mm hex to unscrew them from the head. Very rarely did I run into issues where the studs were stuck in an aluminum head.

I want headers bad. Is it worth doing at 190k? I mean, I’ve had the truck for this long, I’ve just gotten use to the level of performance I guess. :notsure:

I guess that really depends on what you want and how long you plan on keeping the truck. The LCE kit is around $450 so it's not a minor investment. It is a fun project and I felt the gains were worth it, to me. Of course then I removed it when I sold the truck and sold it to a guy in PA

Too Clean! Truck looks good man! Love the black accents with the white. Also those white wheels are perfect.

LOL tha was before it was washed it was actually nasty and had some kind of crap all over it I had to scrub off. That's one of the reasons I love the white it doesn't show regular dirt very much. Mud and big dirt yes. Thanks about the wheels, I keep thinking I want to change the color but I think I'll leave it alone. I have thought about bedlineing the bumper a color matched white

Thanks for the tips! I already have torches, so just need headers haha
i am at 157 500 miles and would like a set for sure! Never really felt the need a V6, but when loaded like this week end for a fishing trip, I would have liked a little more power the headers would give me to takle the hills and pass front of flow people with with big camper trailers haha even if i am used to it, i still want some

The bad thing with any upgrade to the engine until you tune the ECU you won't see the total potential gain of what you did but will see some. Headers can actually hurt low end grunt depending how they are designed tube length etc.

At least with the '13 I had I know after a few trips the computer relearned the prameters and from what I'm to understand recallibrates itself

Yes pretty much all OBDII vehicles relearn themselves and adjust to get back to "factory" settings which is why a tune is needed to take full advantage. Even though after they relearn you still will get some gains just not the full potential and each vehicle is different in the amount of gains without a tune and with. Only 05-07 I believe has been hacked so that you can tune the factory ECU anything after that requires a piggyback system or a full on stand alone like a Haltech or the like.
