Thanks - I love it. Have played for over 25 years, always messed around with my own instruments. Long story short, our family had a health scare last year, and I realized it was time to get off my butt and make crap happen if I wanted to make something more than a hobby out of it. Spent a year doing nights and weekends at a lutherie school, learning the right way to treat other people's guitars. Wasn't cheap, and was a tough year, but I have no regrets. The look on people's faces when I hand them an axe that is setup to their preference, and plays like butter, is so much fun.

What did you end up with if you don't mind me asking?

I went the route of just writing as many options along the lines of what I was looking for & some suggestions from the GF. The peer study group is a great idea though. Feels really good to find a name that works, is available all the way up to federal(TM) & a little personal. @jpereira2 starting writing every idea down cause it's far too easy to come up with something good and forget it within 30mins.

Morning everyone. Father's Day at daycare was a good time. They put on a little show, recited a poem, breakfast, story time, and this!

Would I mind you giving me a chance to plug the side hustle? Of course not! Francis Guitar Repair.

I had thought of True North Instrument Repair, but I don't fix band instruments like brass and woodwinds, which is what everybody thinks when they see that. Then there is a True North guitar maker out West. Etc, etc. Got the list down to 4-5 choices, and had folks weigh in. I used a Spreadsheet to numerically weight their likes, second choices, etc. The numbers didn't lie.

Although one guy told me to choose "neck wringers". That was kind of fun. It's been done, though.

That's awesome! My dad and I are both drummers and we've refinished a good amount of drums, and he's built an acrylic snare and made a handful of drumboxes/cajones. Almost as fun as actually playing! I wanna pick up guitar. I was taking vocal lessons and my teacher was encouraging me learn guitar to help with singing.

I'm switching phone carriers today, at&t doesn't have service at my apt, or my camp, but Verizon does. gf needs a new phone cause hers got wet, Verizon is doing a buy one get one event so not too bad, looks like we are getting s9's or maybe the pixel 2. Ive been using an s5 for like 4 years lol, no room to even update apps anymore. hopefully I will go at least another 4 years after this upgrade

Funny, I hadn't started looking for one of those yet, but realized over the weekend that I need to. The drain on my compressor tank does not seal completely anymore and because of that, the compressor runs almost non-stop when I'm using it. Now I need to order 2-3 of them.

You should! It's an instrument that you don't have to get very far into to accompany yourself. Learning a few chords and basic strum technique will do the trick for you. The rhythm stuff should make sense to you if you're a drummer, as well.

There's a technique for strumming?? :annoyed: I learned guitar a long time ago getting 85% of the basics down but anytime I tried to progress further the strumming was a roadblock couldn't find any info on how to learn so it now collects dust:pout:

It's not as easy as people think. I used to practice during the 45-min bus ride to school and home, everyday, with a pick against the side seam of my jeans. Down-Down-Up-Up-Down. It's all about muscle memory, I guess.

I have the opposite problem. AT&T covers rural Western MA very well and Verizon has a lot of gaps. Competition between carriers doesn't help when I'm pretty much stuck with one anyway!

I have an S7 Active right now and love it. Might go for the S10 Active whenever that comes out, but I'm still happy with this one so dropping $700 on a new one isn't a priority until there are big differences or mine starts acting up. I'm hoping it gets the Oreo update. Then I'll wipe it and start with a clean slate again--that'll buy me time.

Is this valid for basically any song? This is literally the only information I needed years ago & maybe I would still be playing
