I’m looking at a long travel side by side to replace my truck and wondering if you guys know anything about them. Looking at the 2018 Polaris rzr 4 turbo dynamix and the 2018 can am x3 x ds max. I can get both for about the same price. I test drove the standard rzr turbo last night and omg is it fast and it ride like a dream. Going to drive my buddies x3 tonight.

So wait are you bailing on the truck stuff or just want another toy to add to the mix? I know of a guy who has owned a maverick out by me and he is constantly going through axles which could just be a symptom of the side by side game...but I hear the Polaris is a decent platform. Because of this guys experience as well as cruising on the maverick forums from time to time, im a little hesitant now to get a mav although I think they recently designed their axles to be more robust? Sorry as Im not that informative on the subject. What you looking to score the Polaris for if you do?

There was just a recall on the RZR. I have a friend that has one and if you don't jump them they don't break. If you plan to jump it you will break shit all the time. He has gone through a few axels and a few other issues as well. I want to say electrical was one of them.
That turbo though is fast as fuuuck!

    CanAM X3 hands down!

We had both and used both to course mark the Baja 500 and 1000 and the CanAm held up A LOT better than the Rzr.

I don't jump my turbo and already snapped one axle. I have about 2k miles on mine. Also it over heats in a heart beat. I hate it but since the Tacoma is currently disassembled I make due with what I have. In some parts the Tacoma is faster, in others the Rzr. The nice thing about the Tacoma is it's street legal and has AC for cruising around at 115 degrees out. As far as the X3, I don't know much, my pops has one though. I know I don't like the sitting position on it and have just driven it in and out of his garage. My brother says it's better than the Rzr once you're at speed.

How did you guys deal with the over heating issues in the Rzr? I have a '16 and was gonna race it later this month in stock class but while pre-running this weekend I over heated twice in a 20 mile loop.

How about Tacoma, Rzr, and TT? :anonymous:

Bummer! Lol I'm relocating the heat exchanger to the cage with two SPAL fans to see if that helps any. My pops has a X3 RS and no issues but it is barely even broken in.

I currently own a 2015 RZR XP1k non turbo and a Canam X3RS, naturally I wont compare the power.... If you are in to super super tight turns (think driving in the woods), and using your brake pedal to set the rear of the car up for turns the rzr is a good choice. If you are in to faster speeds dunes/desert the wheelbase of the X3 is amazing/forgiving. The rzr overall to me feels more like a rear engine car (weight bias) than the x3. Rzr you sit more upright, some people prefer this I do not. I'm 6'6" and I fit in the x3 better. My experience is you will break both of them in their own unique ways, just pay attention to what others have broken first, reinforce those areas and enjoy them.

SXS's have a prep time to fun value that cant be touched by a prerunner.... With that said I'm still trying to build my truck for long runs/exploring/preruning/chasing in baja etc.

My 2015 RZR XP1k will be for sale this weekend.

For the record you can get a yamaha yxz and build it up and still be cheaper than a x3 or xpt and have way more fun with a sequential 5spd and reliability. I've had mine for almost 2 years and haven't broken a single thing. Just under 1000 miles and one race. Can outrun an x3 in the dunes and dirt and sounds better too. Just my 2cents

I whole heartedly disagree. I have never seen an YXZ that comes close to a turbo rzr/x3 except in cornering. I love yamaha, i love that they went with a sequential tranny, however they are not as fast stock vs. stock and I have yet to see anyone who can make the rear of a YXZ work in the rough yet. If you have vid of one doing well in the medium to big wholes Id love to see it.

YXZ's for smooth courses and or short course only.

I'm hoping Polaris and Canam go to dual clutch trannies

Big whoops that even slow down the big sandrails.

Here's mine. Reflashed ecu. Resprung and revalve shocks. dirt tires. I've hit 92mph and ran out of balls. Stock for stock they dont compare. But with less than 20k (including the cost of the vehicle) I can hold my own, and I'm not even boosted

I will add the rear end is finicky but not a dark art. Just a little time testing suspension settings
