    you could, but nothing secures them from going full open while you drive. it does get hot as shit back there, though when I had the tent on top it made a HUGE difference. I also made some reflective inserts for the side windows and that helped a lot too, but the biggest thing is the large black roof... it sucks up the heat. I never felt comfortable putting my dog back there without the tent on.
