This, young man, needs to be a lesson to you. Next time strongly consider buying what you need and not necessarily what you want. You can always modify along the way without having to part with large amounts of $$ or a testicle up front.

    That said, enjoy your ride.

I'm of the 100% opposite philosophy. If I'm going to part with that much money, I'm going to get exactly what I want. If you're already tagged on a loan for 28k, whats another 3 or 4 grand at that point?

All of this, however, and this is KEY, hinges upon being able to afford the payments. And I mean really afford them. As in all living expenses are paid, credit cards paid in full, 10% in retirement each month, and then have enough left over for the truck payment and a few hundred bucks of fun money.

Most people don't seem to get that "can afford" does NOT mean "have to dump every last penny after living expenses into car payment".

I'm from Waldorf as well... Bought mine at Rosner Toyota in Stafford, VA before I moved in this area... Glad I did too! I hear nothing but negative about Yota of Waldorf.

At least you have a tacoma, something that will hold value alot longer than some of the other trucks out there. That is one reason I didn't mind buying one off the lot. As for me 5.9% interest, and about to refinance through my bank.

    1. never talk to a salesperson (every dollar it's lowered comes out of their commission). find the truck online in their inventory, call the fleet manager and get the price. have them fax or email you the invoice. done.

    2. patience is the key... don't do the deal until you get the terms you want (within reason of course)

Congrats on the new truck, but my bro just got the 2010 Tacoma Double Cab, TRD, SR5, 4 X 4 and tow package for $27,900 in May. (this truck is loaded, nothing eles to add) I have the 03 so I kinda knew the place but we had to work the sales dept hard! and after making the deal we gave the sales guy a coupon from there dealership for $100 off. You should have seen his face, he was pissed..:D

When I was 20 years old (year 2000 FWIW) I financed a 1989 Toyota Corolla GTS for $6000 and had a loan of about 9%. I got owned hard. It was the first car I bought by myself and I was so proud. My payments were something like $265 a month and I was having a hard time affording that.

How you can afford $550 as an 18 year old is totally beyond me. I know that insurance on a truck like that for an 18 year old is not so cheap either. And gas...

We all live and learn though.

from anouther thread he was paying 2600 per year for insurance.

so between note and insurance he is at 9300 plus figure 1800+- for gas. wow. that's alot to be spending annually on a ride.

i'm guessing he still lives at home.....
