    I remember my F250 days. I had a 5.8 gasser with 2 tanks and costed around $150 or some stupid amount like that to fill up at the time.

    Ayup. I loved her dearly, but this was back when gas was well over $3 a gallon and I just got laid off from Delta. If she had been a 7.3L Powerstroke, I'd probably still have her, she's have had a D60 straight front axle, been sitting on 40s, and I wouldn't know any of you guys so, in many ways I'm glad she wasn't a powerstroke. In others though, for the money I've spent on the OGT, the F250 would have been a much more badass truck. $8K would have gone a lot further building her than it did the OGT, although as pretty as she was, it would have hurt my heart to cut sheetmetal to fit 40s while keeping her low.

    Honestly, when I bought her I hadn't grown out of the more cubic inches the bigger my hardon phase yet and I bought her to haul my ATV...which I sold shortly afterwards. I should have got a Tacoma when I got my previous ATV hauler, a '90 F150, but I heard horror stories from a coworker with a Toyota pickup that his 2wd ATV was caving in the bed and I had a bigger 4WD ATV, so I didn't think a Toyota would be a good idea as much as I wanted one. I already had an '87 project Toy I was putting a Chevy 350 in. Which in retrospect was stupid. I had an '83 with a 22R with shot out rings and valve guide seals that smoked like a mosquito fogger going down the road and used more oil than gas. If I had it to do over, I would have just taken the 22RE out of the '87, put it into the '83 with the '83s manual trans and then swapped the '87 cab and bed onto the '83 frame and had a much more plush badass truck. The '83 didn't even have a radio, much less A/C or power steering or anything. It was basic as could be. Then I could have regeared it and with a little more lift or sheet metal trimming, I could have put it on 35s and had a badass trail rig with a solid front axle.

    Come to think of it, if I had it all to do over again, I would have never bothered with the Ford and never owned anything but Toyotas, with the possible exception of the YJ. That said though, a '90s era Ford Explorer Sport with the 4.0 Cologne engine, SAS's on 35+ inch tires would be a badass trail rig.

    I remember that. Those were the days. Even when I moved to Atlanta in the late 90s for my job, gas down here was like $1.50/gal but in Atlanta it was still under $.99 a gallon...which was a good thing since I had a 45 minute interstate ride to work and home everyday...45 minutes at about 80 MPH because any slower and your ass was going to get run over. Only got pulled over once and that was right before I got transferred back home to Tampa. The State Patrol guy was cool though. He got me for a lot less than I was doing and he had the most interesting Asian/Georgia accent I've ever heard. It was unique as hell for me. But it was also the "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out." parting shot from Georgia. I was actually thinking about turning down the transfer when it came until I had to pay state taxes that year, and then I was like to hell with this. Coming back to Tampa was like getting a $500/month raise.

    Been there about 30 years ago. Nice place then. :thumbsup: Going out on the beach at night was pretty cool. The beach was covered with fiddler crabs. Got some nice sunset pictures that are still hanging on my wall.

    The vise is designed to open wide enough to be able to fix a u joint on the trail.

    Ah yes, I remember many times back in the day laying in the mud taking out the driveshaft to replace a busted Ujoint...good times. :rofl:

    They retail over a $100 and I bought mine for under $100 shipped. I use the truck for a work bench all the time so I thought it was a wise investment.
