"For what its worth" you could have contributed to answering his question rather than making the statement that he could have done what you did. He bought the truck he wanted, not the truck you wanted.

There are plenty of TRD Pros with Swapped out suspensions running 35s ... they're all over Instagram. If you like the look of the Pro, then you got the right truck for you. I picked up a 2018 TRD Off-Road model and I am happy with that, knowing that I could add the Pro trim items I wanted. That said, if I were to swap out suspension on the O/R, I'd look to put in the stock TRD Pro Fox 2.5. And, FWIW there, you can only get that from Toyota. Fox does have similar 2.5s but they are different than the stock ones that come with the Pro.

My experience - I still have a 2014 Jeep JK which I lifted 2.5" (AEV w/ Billstein shocks) and run 35s on 17" rims. I also got the gears re-done to 4:56. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't do the lift & big tires. Not a great setup for daily use, gas consumption, etc ... but great for crawling (which I do very little of). So, FWIW, stick to your stock Pro setup ... its good & as also mentioned earlier in the thread, 33's should work on that. If you like a more aggressive look, rims with a slightly different offset could be a consideration. This is cheaper and very easily reversed if you don't like it ... assuming look & stance are important to you.

Just my to cents (on a somewhat dated thread, I realize).

Eventually I'd like to get a steel front bumper (or the hidden winch mount), a winch and dual batteries. That's a lot of weight.

Will the stock pro suspension be ok with this or will I need to swap it out at that point?

I'd like to eventually overland in the Rockies/Moab/etc.

Yeah, that does add some weight, but it also depends on your choices (bumper type, etc.). I can't give you an answer without some speculation as I don't have the first hand experience. But, I would think that if there is an impact, it might be minimal if looked at as a percentage of the overall weight being supported. Besides, some of that is subjective - you might find that you're perfectly fine with the way it turns out.

Either way, once you figure out which bumper you want - I have the C4 Fab LoPro bumper with bull bar on order now - call the manufacturer directly and/or (flip through social media to) contact owners directly and ask them. No substitute for first hand experience.

TRD and Fox. Reservoir setup and tuning. Spoke directly with both.

You spoke with TRD? Lol, what does that even mean.

I knew the tune was different but I wouldn't consider that better necessarily. If anything it's more tuned for the street relative to the standard Fox tune so could be a draw back depending on use.

Need more details on "reservoir setup". My guess is this is just an extension of the different tune. The rear TRD Fox's could have more or less pressure in their reservoirs than a standard Fox tune.

Haha ... It means just that ... a rep identifying himself as being "with TRD" - live, in person. Mostly talked generalities with him, but did specifically talk Fox and was explicit about they being only available through Toyota.

Fair enough. I wouldn't debate against the TRD Fox shocks being tuned differently and only available direct from Toyota. But, I would debate that by and large they are identical to off the shelf offerings from Fox and would even go so far as to say the standard Fox tune may be more desirable for some. Plus you get the added benefit of adjustable height from the off the shelf Fox coilovers.
