Yea, Entune is just a service feature but has nothing to do with performance. You will need to have the music on your phone but if you have a computer that is easy. If you have Amazon Prime then for a small fee of $10 bucks a month you can stream all your favorite music. Limited data plan, no problem, log on at work and use their internet to download music to your phone. The app only works when your phone is connected to the truck either via bluetooth or via 15mm cable. Both are possible with your phone, I use to have one.

You can see the imprint of the chain on the black plastic. I dont have the sensors on mine.
I drove my wife’s car with sensors this weekend which does beep and I guess I was in that beep mindset.

The S4 supports 64gb cards. That's a whole lotta music you can copy on there. It might not be beneficial to you to drop Sirius for Amazon Prime Unlimited if you are happy.

By the way, Love me some Bluegrass. Actually, I am a fan of any kind of music but racial hate rap and crying in your beer country about dogs dyin' etc. Everything else is fair game with me. I listened to some Indian Street Metal the other week. I liked it. I am 56. :D

Just got confirmation my Prinsu cabrac will be 10 days early......can anyone tell me if these can be installed by yourself? Can side rails be loosely mounted then the cross bars without messing up sealer? Thanks

For total car audio sound deadening, there is more to it than the CDL mats (such as Noico or Dynamat). All CDL mats do is reduce vibrations of panels. When you stick some of this on a bell, it will no longer "ding", it will just "thud" instead. That's because the material of the bell cannot vibrate freely due to the weight of the CDL attached to it.

The reason you see so much of it in big car audio builds is because they are usually installing some big subwoofers that will shake the hell out of the vehicle. The more the vehicle panels shake, the more it can distor the audio signals that are boucing inside the car. For the 99% of the time when you are listening to music at resonable levels, 100 coverage with these mats are overkill. Instead, "The rule of thumb is: enough CLD to cover 25% of the surface distributed over the central 50%-75% of the panel." So basically, it's best to have patches of CDL on the panels that may vibrate more.

Generally, the bigger the panel, the more it'll vibrate (or resonate). That's why you should put some on the doors (both the inner and outer skins...especially around the speakers which will obviously be vibrating a lot) and behind the rear seats (especially if you have a subwoofer) to start with. Additionally, if you have the time, putting some on the roof and possibly the floor panels will help as well. I ran out of my CDL, but I plan on putting some on my roof becase while I was sitting in the truck in a parking lot, I realized how loud a couple of raindrops can sound because that panel is so large!

Now, there is a side benifit to adding 100 CDL coverage on the doors. When you pop off the door panels, you can see how the inner skin has large holes so that you can access the stuff inside the doors (such as the window or cables). When you cover all of these holes with the CDL mats, you nearly turn the door into a sealed speaker box. Depending on the speaker characteristics, it usually enhances the speaker's response which makes it sound better as you get lower in the freq range.

I mentioned that there is more to sound deadening than applying CDL mats to reduce unwanted vibrations. To really reduce or "deaden" the unwanted outside sounds (such as road noise), you need to add materials that actually reduce the sound at those frequencies. CDL mats do not really reduce the soundwaves at frequencies that are usually associated with road noise. To get at that, you will want to add other mats such as Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) or Hydrophobic Melamine Foam (HMF). I have never used HMF, but MLV was amazing!

MLV is a heavy rubber that is about a quarter of an inch thick. It does not need to stick to any surfaces, it just needs to be fitted in a way so that they stay put behind whatever panel you can get it behind.

I have not bought any for the Taco (yet), but in the past, when I added it behind the door panels (after having done the CDL mats), I just use some industrial velcro strips at the top of the door to hang the MLV mat. Then you can put the door panel back on to hide all of it. I have also slid large sections of MLV under the carpet with whatever I had left over. I'm not sure if it would help to put some on the roof unless you have a roof rack and can hear the noise from it at higher speeds.

A fast ring is basically foam weather stripping that is already shaped in a ring meant specifically for car speakers. Although they are convient, I save myself the money and just buy a roll of weather stripping from Lowes or HD and just take my time applying it in a circle around the circumfrence of the speaker adapter.

Ditto what Ruminator said below...definitely make sure the surfaces are clean and DRY before applying CDL!

Also remember to not block/seal/cover the drain holes at the bottom of the doors (where the inner and outer skins meet). Although little watter usually gets in there, it still gets in there and will need to go somewhere. If it can't, then that's where you will have a higher chance of problems.

I have never used Fluid Film and I'm not sure I would want to if it does that to rubber. lol

After the installs I have done, there has never been any issues with moisture or water getting on the CDL or MLV mats. They are designed for high heat and moisture (aka, the harsh car environments). The only 2 problems due to water that I've seen were 1) covered drain holes causeing water to pool up and 2) unpainted MDF/wood speaker rings that eventually swelled up and popped off the door panel! :facepalm:But the mats themselves were a-ok.

Sorry I went long, it's one of the few things I know a bit about and can help crontribute with here...

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
FF (which is actually just lanolin) will only affect non-oil-resistant rubber. On a vehicle, that's pretty much just the weatherstripping.

Found a chart which says butyl is okay with animal fats, and lanolin is an animal byproduct, so I'm pretty sure there isn't a problem with the Noico. Don't know about the other materials you mentioned.
