I'm considering a purchase of the Techstream version in the subject line from this eBay seller to use with my 2018 OR:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/321761289092?ul_noapp=true

Anyone with experience buying from this guy? Also, after reading through some of the threads here it seems that Techstream has or had very limited customizations available for the Tacoma. Is that still the case? Would I be better off sticking with Carista?

carista is good if you only need it once (buy the day pass or week pass, the monthly charge is nuts unless you use it daily for other stuff you need to see). unlike me that have 4 Toyotas within the whole family and some friends with Toyota's I just find a copy on the internet with the most current version (takes a while to actually find a valid one). the ones that come with the cable thru ebay are sketchy (means that you need to be very careful on the files they have on the cd/dvd as they are usually loaded with malware/virus. also never follow the instructions that say turn off your virus scanner).

I did not buy from that guy but it looks like a copy of the ad on Ebay I did buy from

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Techstream...hash=item46669fe282:m:mW2IWGk-TsXtaiw7H8U8fbg

. I wound up using the cable I bought from Ebay and downloading the techstream from the web . If you have the OVTtune and cable , you only need to get the download of techstream and do not need to pay for anything from what others have said . I have 12.10.019 . It seems to have all features available but I have a 2016 . It was a pain in the but to get working though as it is all a hacked software subscription etc.

if you are really good with computers it is probably not that hard to get working . The instructions were assuming a level of expertise I did not have . I did get it to work on one laptop though but it may have been by accident lol.
To tell the truth once I got it working , I used it once to change the door locks and a couple other minor things and have not used it since.
The cd it comes with on EBAY is easy enough to virus check before using I think . Mine was an older version I got from the web.
