    Am considering removing the TRDOR stickers from the sides of the beds. It is a 2017 that sat on the lot for a year.

    What are the chances of ghosting issues, being a year old?? How does the Quicksand hold up with fading from the sunlight?

    Manufactured in May of 2017.

    Picked mine a few weeks ago. New to TW and excited to get to upgrades. Trying to decided between a soft topper, bakflip or hard shell. Any recommendations/lessons learned from each?

    Welome!

    As to your question regarding soft or hard top, or bakflip; how do you intend to utilize your truck? With a little feedback on what you have planned or how you currently use your truck will get you some better feedback.

    Each option has pros/cons as well as some similarities. Each also has 'fixes/mods' for their respective shortcomings, ie. bed racks with tonneau brackets on the bakflip, exterior rack around the softopper, bedslides with any of them, etc. These fixes will come at a cost though, both monetarily and in the functionality of the given top.

    Thanks! Good points. I do a lot of fishing and hunting. So I need to protect/secure gear. I mostly hunt ducks and fish remote streams so I’m in light off road situations often. I also will need racks someday for my fishing kayak. This is also my daily driver and will use for some home projects like hauling brush, mulch, etc. my hesitation with a hard top like ARE is they don’t seem easy to remove. I was originally thinking bakflip with some nice removable bars like I’ve seen on here. But I really like the look of toppers (including soft toppers) I just don’t know much about them in regards to options, and functionality.

    Up until recently I've always had hard or soft tops on my trucks. I have never run Bakflip or tonneau style cover, so my feedback, or lack there of, for that style cover is purely speculative.
    Hardtops can be a beast to remove and are best for those that 'set it and forget it." Not to say that it can't be done though as some folks set up a hoist/pulley system to make the task a one person job.
    Softoppers go up and down quick and easy. Some folks say they are watertight, I have never experienced this. No matter how much topper adjusting or seam sealant I used, I always had water intrusion. No more than I could live with though.
    As mentioned, I have zero experience with the tonneau cover style. On paper they seem to have similar strengths and weakness as the Softopper.

    Simply put IMHO (and there are tons of options that could make a each option =<> than the other options, such as racks, extension brackets, trailers, etc.):

    Security = Hardtop > Bakflip > Softopper
    Versatility = Softopper > Bakflip > Hardtop
    Functionality is very dependent on intended usage. To me, it sounds like your usage sways towards a Bakflip style top.

    New to the forum. Just bought my Taco 2 months ago. She hits the shop in 2 weeks for her lift and shoes. Photo is the night of purchase. I'll update once the lift goes on the 28th. Already put 3M Crystalline 40% on all windows and 70% on windshield.

    Coming to 2 weeks

    Welcome Hatetoorun. I'v had mine a month and a week. These guys & gals are a plethora of knowledge.
    Found that my leafspring nuts weren't torqued within spec. Little thing like that makes me a believer in forums now. Good luck.
