I've gotten more compliments on my SR than any other truck I've ever had

Look to get ceramic tint if you can. Much better at temp control.

Have same color, utility with rwd, 2.7 auto. I order the truck without seeing one in that color, when they delivered it to my house, I was really surprised how it look in the MGM. Even the people that delivered it said they like the simple clean look of it. I put some OEM mud flaps on it and with the black lower front end it looks kind of steam punk to me. Really like it.

I concur. Toyota just killed it with the gen 3 design language. It looks great.

    Congrats!

I just got a new to me 2016 SR 4x4 MT (only 2201 miles) back in April and I'm very happy with it so far.

It's funny... I've also noticed that there are not as many SR's around here... now I feel special, like I have some exotic utilitarian treasure.

I think it looks better than some of the decked out models... lol.

F150's are a dime a dozen. But get a nice taco and everyone notices. :D

I get plenty of comments at the gas pump, but I put about $8k into my SR and basically made it look like a Pro. Shot myself in the foot there, as far as taking compliments is concerned.

OP - I thought there was a thread on here about adding fender flares to an SR - it was stated the SR doesn't come with flares. But it looks like your truck has flares!?

Oh - thanx. Mine are same color as truck so look similar to OP but with flares. Doesn't really look too bad without the flares!

Nope, it really doesn't. Only reason I put them on was due to the 0 offset of the FX pro wheels. Got tired of the rooster tails.

Not trying to steal the OPs thunder but I have also had more nice comments about my OR than any vehicle I have ever owned. In my 64 years that has been quite a few. Congrads on making a great decision with your Tacoma , I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine

Ditto on the compliments. My only mods have been cruise control, a trailer hitch and a "save the manuals" window decal. Mine is Barcelona Red and the black trim really looks good on it. When it is new tire time I may do the wheels in black as well. I hear "nice truck" a lot.

Not much on mods - Leer 180, TRD wheels, Mobtown sliders, rear hitch, helper springs on the rear
Definitely not a 3rd Gen truck - but you're right about the base SR, formerly Model # 7513, provides a nice blank slate to modify as much or little to ones own taste.

    Congrats on your SR,

I want a 2018 DCSB SR real bad! But instead have to sit contently with my 2015 “SR” Utility Package Acces Cab 4x4 5-spd. I do love driving it, as I ordered Conv package also which got me sliding rear window, factory tint, keyless entry, cruise, power outside mirrors, and a leather wheel.

I have some 05-06 Tundra TRD wheels going on real soon.

    Damn that looks good.

when you put the fender flares on your SR. Did you have any trouble with the bolts?

I talked to Toyota & they said the SR doesn’t have all the holes that other trims do so the fender flares will only hold on with 2 or 3 bolts & automotive tape so it’s not as secure.

What’s your experience with this? Did you have to drill any other holes for them to be secure?
