Do it! After you shoot one arrow, you'll know why bows are so awesome.

I need to quit goofing around and shoot some. hunting season is only about 2.5 months away. ;) My goal really is to get a decent bull elk. Ive only shot a cow so far with a bow, I want a bull. I know the meat isnt as good but I'd just like to have a decent rack to show off ;)

Ever since I picked up a Bear Kodiak recurve in '79, I've been fascinated with shooting. There was just something magical about watching the red and yellow fletching slowly spinning in an arc till that thump in the hay bale. Last night I was shooting at forty yards, enough to see the arrow rise above line of sight and arc back down and hit with that satisfying thump in the 10 ring.

Well after abou 2 1/2 years and 2 shoulder surgeries I was finally able to break out the hunting bow. It felt heavy and it hurt to shoot it but the doctor said that o wasn’t going to break anything so if I felt like dealing with the pain go for it. The Matthews Wake did its job I was a little shaky but managed ok groups at 30 yards.

Put on the HHA optimizer single pin last night. Went to the range today to sight it in. Damn, I love it.

Didn't completely sight it in (putting the final tape on) however, because my rangefinder was reading the targets at 2 yards closer than they were supposed to be. Not sure which one was wrong haha

I always just sight in for my range finder. None of my families seem to read exactly the same most the time.

Yeah that's what I figured I was going to do - I mean since that is what I will be using in the field. So I'm going to go to some open space and finish it off, now that I know my arrow wont completely miss my small target

Anyone follow John Dudley on social media? More specifically, did anyone catch his post for the "Block Challenge"?
Look it up, it's a great challenge!

I'll have to check that out.

I got a new sight this weekend. I'll post pics in a bit.

Anybody have a good video for sighting in a single pin sight?

Its a Cobra Quick Strike. I got it cheap, figure it was an easy way to venture into single pin sights.

Im not familiar with that sight and how its sighted in. The HHA sight has specific tapes you put on the dial. Tape selection is based on certain numbers that you shoot at for certain distances.
My suggestion for you would be to find the manual.

I emailed the company. Hopefully I'll hear soon.

It's really a solidly built sight. Runs on stainless steel gears, nice CNC machining, and all stainless hardware. It's a heck of a lot like the Spot Hogg Fast Eddie.

I'm going to modify it though. It has neon green parts on it, I've already taken them off and sprayed them satin black with some Krylon Fusion. I'm not fan of all these bright colors all over sights now. That ring you see below may go too. May pull it off an paint it with glow in the dark paint or something not sure yet.

Looks nice! Just be careful you don't accidentally spray the optic fiber for your pin. On the HHA sight the fiber is wrapped on the outside to capture as much light.

Did some shooting yesterday and overall I'm ok with it. The first 3 arrows was 45yds:
    IMG_20180618_195440.jpg
    Then next 3 we're at 30yds:
    IMG_20180618_195549.jpg
I got confident so I decided to sling all 6 at 45 again:
    IMG_20180618_200059.jpg
Some good grouping and some not. So I put my confidence aside and really concetrated on settling my pin and back tension:
    IMG_20180618_200626.jpg
Better grouping! This is the first time I've really documented my shots after shooting. I think I'm going to do this more often to so how I have progressed.
