Whats the best drop in filter to use with deckplate mod?

    I just did the deckplate mod on my 2.7L this weekend and am very pleased. I am still running the stock filter and was wondering if it would be worth the money to upgrade to a performance drop in. Whats your opinion, whats the best filter to run with this mod, what do you have in your truck?

    AFE dry filter. I have a K&N and they are good to but the dry filters have less maintence.

    the stock paper filter is best.

    there isn't a filter on the market that's going to give you any noticeable hp gains. ..so stick with the stock filter as it does the best job of actually filtering the air.

    I dropped a K&N in mine. Wanted the AFE pro dry but the parts shop looked at me like I was we-tall-did (say it out loud :p) when I aske about it.

    I have the AFE. Whether it gives more performance or not over the stock, it's a lifetime filter so I won't have to buy another one ever.

    I just did the deck plate last weekend too. I went ahead and bought the AFE pro dry late last week also.. for only $40 shipped I was like "why not?"

    go with the afe pro dry s. U should be able to find it for about 40-50 bucks. Its a lifetime filter and no oil to mess up your MAF or throttle body.

    Well, if none of the filters out there will give u any noticable hp gains, would the k&n give u more of that cold air intake sound that any of the rest since its not a dry or paper filter

    LS1-T56 swap, Z06 ported heads, cam, Titanium valves, Kevlar clutch. Now building a forged stroker (383) and all the ponies! Old setup was rod-knockin on heaven's door...
    That test was not done by a 3rd party, dont you think it may be a little biased?? The sensors CAN get oily and I have personally cleaned a few fixing driveability problems by cleaning the MAF sensor, however this was due to over oiling.

    Not to mention K&N filters flow so well because they hardly filter!!!

    I am a tech and I work on cras, diesels and motorcycles, and all of the dirtbikes that have K&N filters on them die very quickly due to the amount of dirt the K&N lets by.

    Those filters were originally designed for keeping rubber out of drag race cars.

    I just recharched my K&N drop in air filter...Now after reoiling the clean side and letting it air dry...There is little oil droplets all over the mesh screen...I only did one light pass over the entire filter as stated :confused:
