So after my 5th trip to the dealer and the dealer having the truck all week, they called a corporate regional manager in to take a ride in my truck. He happened to hear the same noise the service manager, body shop manager, and I all heard that air was leaking at the top of the door on the driver side. The corporate regional manager suggested to change the window seal..well picked up last night and the sound is worse. I called the body shop manager and he is going to close the ticket out. He stated the next step is going to be offering a new door to be put on which I am completely against or trading up to a new truck of my choice and they give me exactly what I have in mine. Sorry for the long narrative, but has anyone else had this happen on a 3rd gen?

Well that sucks. Hope they take care of you and get this resolved on your truck or make it doable to put you in a new one.

Why are you against a new door replacement? Why would you get a whole new truck because your door has to be replaced? That really doesn't make sense.

Just cut a slit in the gasket and slide in some quarter inch tubing and be done with it.

I used about 18" and mine hasn't made a peep since.

I know my trucks a second gen but it's the same concept on your truck.

    Best of luck!

A new door will show up on the carfax when I go to trade up in 6-7 years and hurt resale value. Also the truck is black and even if they blend the paint, the body shop manager stated you will be able to tell the difference quickly

Have you taken a piece of paper and closed it in the door and pulled to see where the gasket is not seating properly? And these seals are like aircraft door seals - there are holes on the inside that inside air pressure enters and expands the seal for an air tight fit.
And does the noise change if the AC is on or not?

Yes, body shop has took the piece of paper and checked gaskets that way. That is how they came to the assumption that the window seal was bad. After the window seal install, however the noise shifted lower down to just above the panel. We all agreed on the shifting of the noise as well. Door seals have been changed as well with the tsb.

Agreed!! I just hope I can get something resolved. It just seems they are at the end of the line. I mean it is a 2016 with 10K miles on it for goodness sake. I haven't had it offroad, wash it weekly, and treat it like a child. I really hate to give the truck up but if I have too

That is what I am hoping for but I just hope I don't get beat up to bad on mine. I guess I will just have to work the specifics out with sales.

Ahem! I had a 2006 Toyota Highlander that had 14K worth of damage done to the front end/frame and was fixed by the insurance company. Before I got rid of it a year later (lease return and no drive-ability problems developed) I paid for a CARFAX report to see what was reported under my VIN; guess what I found? NOTHING!!! There wasn't one thing listed that related to my accident on the CARFAX web page (again, I checked by VIN). When I brought it back my salesman said, 'it was hit, but it was repaired so don't worry about it'.

Bottom line...you can't always go by CARFAX reports. Also, Toyota's are built like tanks!

If they change the door just verify they don't report to Carfax.

Carfax doesnt just pull stuff out of the air. Its actually pretty inaccurate in many cases.
