I haven’t yanked on a closed lid but it seems plenty strong. The locks needs to move quite a bit before being able to open. The pinch to open was a huge selling point to me too. There is no way someone can use a wire to open the lid.

I did notice that waterspots stained the plastic parts and I couldn’t scrub them out. I wasn’t sure what chemicals I could use on it since I don’t know the material. I ended up ceramic coating it and try to keep it clean now.

I do see water dripping inside when I wash the truck but nothing crazy. There is a gap in the factory bed where the rear bar and side rails meet. That should be filled, I used shoe goo. Haha. I’m sure if I spent more time I can get it sealed.

Here’s a pic of the water stains I was unable to get out. I used a plastic ceramic coating after I cleaned it as best I could. It seems to be better now but I just try to keep the lid clean and not let water sit too much. Look at the milky stuff, not that brown doodoo thing on the bottom left.

Thanks for the info! I'm stopping by a local LEER dealer tomorrow to check one out in the flesh. I'll probably go for it, but will have to watch out for the spotting issue. We have VERY hard water here in Phoenix. Have a good weekend man!

This is what I used to coat the lid to help the water bead and not sit and dry up. Install a power tailgate lock too! so much easier to secure the bed and open it without a key.

Thanks for the tips! I had an X2T installed Saturday, and so far I'm loving it...

It's just hard water spots . I just had mine installed at Aloha Toppers behind Cutter Ford.
Last thing you want to do is scrub. Try Back to Black. This stuff is awesome on black trims. Or , try water spot remover. A good detailing shop should have them . I use 303 protectant on all rubber and vinyl.
That's the only thing I use on my 911 for rubber seals.
    The Leer xt2 is awesome.

I've had my X2T for about a month now and have washed the truck several times since. Even with the extremely hard water and high temps we have here in Phoenix, I have no problem with water spots. Weird.

Yea. He must've let water just sit without wiping it off. He's going to need water spot remover.
