Nice BIG car. You should feel safe in that Real metal car. I Used to have a 67 Fairlane and wish I still had it. Would love to get my hands on a 427 R-Code.

For me a lot of it's a long term buildup and some serious craigslist hunting/trading.
For instance, I bought my tractor used, but it was a convoluted process. I bought a snowblower that didn't run for $100, fixed it and traded it even for a 50's Case tractor that also didn't run from a guy who didn't understand a points ignition system. Fixed that and sold it for $2500. Put that $$ and another $1000 into a Kubota with electrical problems. Fixed those, kept the Kubota for a few years (and used the hell out of it), and sold it this spring. Took that $ plus another $1000 and bought my current New Holland tractor.

The boat was the same way: I paid $350 for the boat, trailer, and motor because the motor didn't run. $100 in parts and now it works fine.
The '69 is the same way; I started out with a $500 investment and through some Craigslist horse-trading with various repairs along the way I ended up buying the '69 for $3500 I got from selling a Suzuki cruiser. I've put a bunch of work into it since then, and it's easily worth double what I paid for it now.

    :notsure:

I also don't have kids, though, which makes it easier for spare $$ to be available when a deal pops up on Craigslist.

But debt figures into it somewhat as well; I took a loan out for around $14k when I bought my current truck this spring. Plus I owe about $90k on my house. But I'm not concerned about that, since the house is valued at over $160k, since my mortgage is under $700/month (with the taxes and insurance included) and I bought it as a foreclosure that needed work and I could sell it tomorrow for considerably more than I paid. You should be seeing a pattern here, lol.

4 wheel manual drum brakes with lap seat belts on a 5 thousand pound car. Safe isn't the first thing that comes to mind. ;) But you're right. Its built like a tank.

Take a look at the master cylinder in this thing!

I know what you mean. Mostly talking about someone possible hitting you from front or rear. (Hopefully never). Those stock bumpers weigh as much as a tacoma after market Armor bumper. Lol

My secret I almost never eat out. Most people spend a grand or more monthly just in eating out multiple times a day not to mention weekends. Oh and gotta get their Starbucks every morning lol.

Well the Z only comes out in the summer. I have a beater 88 pickup with 250k I drive to work 18mi round trip. No sense putting miles on other rigs and I get dirty sometimes. With 4 rigs by myself can't drive them all at once. Had tacoma almost 2yrs now and just turned 10k. Lol

Nice, the 964 is pretty nice. 993 was on my list. So was the 930 or ‘Carrera’. Those sandwiched yours. I hand an ‘85 cab that I really enjoyed.

Eating out can get expensive. Personally I can not stand Starbucks, what their stores do to the flow of traffick is enough to never spend a buck there.
