Tim, I just checked out your rig and love it. Do you like your front bumper? I was thinking of getting one but not sure which one I would like the most.

Looks like you got off to the races w a grill n some lights! Truck looks good man! Put some good skids on before you wheel too much, dont want that diff hanging out for too long. Congrats again man, was super stoked when I picked mine up. Was ear to ear for 14 years hahah

Go relentless, dont go allpro. Love the look of it, but the quality isnt the same and you are forced to buy allpro skids. Its my only regret.

I looked into relentless and like the "predator" bumper. I'll definitely save up for it but yeah I agree I need to get a skid plate for sure. I was looking at Skid Row Off road. Have you heard of them? Are they good?

I have not but i havent shopped skids since i could only choose one and never thought too much about it till i realized the one i have I have to live with. I really would like something that covers or protects my cam bolts. When i swap bumpers i will do my research

Jim I took everything apart and you were right about the brake cylinders leaking so I just replaced them. The new brakes work great! Thanks again for the advice!

I believe the skid row skid plate covers the cam bolts. That's what it looks like on the pictures....

I haven't bought them yet. There's an off road store called Epic 4x4 in Lewisville, TX that I'm seeing if I can buy it from them to save on shipping but I also called Skid Row directly because I wanted to know if they could make a custom skid that says something besides "Skid Row Off road." They do it for the jeeps so I wanted to see if they would do it for the Toyota's. But I'm waiting on their reply right now. I'll let you know what they say.

    Awesome!

I see you're looking at bumpers. I'll share with you my thoughts/experience too. So I took a trip to Moab in my truck a few years ago. I knew I wanted sliders, hell I needed sliders. I also worried about my front bumper not clearing and quite frankly ripping it off completely. Not so, but I figured if I returned with my bumper in my bed I could finally justify a fancy new one.

We did Hells Revenge, Poison Spider, Top of the World and a few other "Difficult" trails in Moab with a stock front bumper with zero issues. Now, that said I still WANT a front bumper but I don't really NEED one (except for recovery points, but I try not to get stuck). Lesson is put your money where you need it first. I used the HELL out of my sliders. So I'd start there honestly. Skids? I never hit anything under the truck with a good spotter, with the exception of the trailer hitch. Which leads me to my last observation, I NEED a rear bumper more than a front, and to remove the hitch. Poison spider (IIRC) has a long stretch of trail that is like crossing a mile of very large speed bumps in the rock and I hit the hitch on almost every one no matter how slow I went. Also when climbing I would drag the rear bumper into the rock a lot and I did manage to hit the bottom of the bed behind the rear wheels a few times but not too bad.

edit: Too early for proper punctuation. Sorry for the poor sentence structure, a pet peeve of mine.

That is what I want! I agree to an extent with what @JJ04TACO said, sliders should come before your front bumper. But my skids have saved me just as much as my sliders. Sliders are used everytime i play in the rocks, and my skids.

I totally agree about skids though. You never know when a rando rock will end up in the wrong place. I do want a front bumper pretty bad and mostly because my stock skid is in a bad way and for recovery and possibly a winch. I also lost a welded capture nut toward the rear of the second skid so I need a nutsert or something to take its place.

Haha. Thanks Jim. I’ll get the skids first and save up for the other armor. Bumper will probably be last then.
