Just picked up the OEM bed mat.
Is there anything I need to do to secure it to the bed?

Don't want it flying off on the highway.

Do i need to have some weight (like some bricks) on it at all times to hold it down?

its weighs a good bit alone, throw it in the bed and drive off...it'll stick....mine has never moved

oh and if you're like me and have a rock filled driveway it makes a great cushion to lay on while you're under the truck ( not doing oil changes but other stuff)

If you're anal about it. You can loosen up the bed bolts with a star 14mm bit, mark and holesaw the mat w/ (6) 1.5" holes and find some shallow "bowl" washers and bolt them back down. It will stay even if you flipped over.

It won't fly off but someone that spots it may take off with it.

No way it will fly off. It's heavy plus a lot of air would have to be flowing underneath.

If it does, don't post the speed you were going, 'cause LEO's frequent this place, and internet confessions are potential evidence. :D

47,000 miles, plenty at 80 mph. Never budged. I would never fasten it down, I like to take it out and hose out out all the crap that gets under it and clean out the drain holes in the front corners of the bed.

Used a drive through car wash that has the big fans at the end that dry off the truck as you drive through and saw my mat flapping all around in the rear view mirror as I drove out. Never came out but was folded over when I got out to check on it.

Bed Mat is the #1 Mod IMO. Can't live without it. Should just come stock from the factory with it honestly.

a buddy of mine claims his started to walk out of the bed when going through a car wash. i have a big chain for locking up bikes that's always kicking around my bed, so i've never had the car wash problem.

but before the chain was in there, the thing never moved from any driving.

Not being a wise a$$, serious question. Why is the bed mat so popular? Thanks.

I've had my truck for 3 months, but I've had the same bed mat for 14 years. Mine swapped over from my 05. Never been an issue. Flopped around once in a while at the car wash, but never a problem.

The bed is slippery without it.

I got mine because my truck came with a tonneau cover and I added a bed rack and RTT over that. So to get anything to the front of the bed I have to crawl in and drag it. The bed mat softens things up a lot. As an added bonus it's so "sticky" that anything you put on it stays there.

I regularly drive through the valleys here which have tradewinds blowing though like a wind tunnel. Never had an issue with the OEM mat lifting without any additional weight on it.

And in other news here on Channel 6, an unfortunate Toyota Tacoma owner rolled his truck over an embankment. Surprisingly, the bed mat never moved and is the only item that Highway Patrol says is salvageable.
