I'll have my A&P in September. Looking for possible job opportunities now to line everything up by this time next year.

There is a Peking Duk concert on the 27th if you want to come down out of Golden for it. I don't know anything about them, but my wife works with a bunch of Aussies and apparently they put on a great show.

There is pretty much always something going on in Denver. Really just depends on what you are into?

Fixed wing or rotary? Any interest in UAVs? Specifically looking in Colorado?

I'm experienced in rotary. MH-60's to be exact. I was actually in the process of applying for a UAV job in the Navy, but things have changed since. Not specifically looking in CO, but was gauging a lot of interest. You got a lead on something for me? :spy:

Do you want to stay stateside or travel overseas?

https://www.textronsystems.com/what-we-do/unmanned-systems - lots of prior rotary guys at this place. I worked here for a long time - mainly in Afghanistan. They hire a lot of airframers for the Shadow platform and they also do the Aerosonde.

http://www.ga.com/about If you want to get into Preds and Reapers. Worked with a lot of these guys on ground control. Mainly in CA stateside, but lots of OCONUS jobs as well.

http://www.avinc.com/uas/small_uas/raven these guys have some pretty interesting jobs overseas. Worked with there crews a lot and its a sweet gig on little tiny aircraft haha.

http://www.aurora.aero/ have a lot of connections here too. They work on some pretty next level shit. Google Aurora Orion. Thats the last project I worked on before I left the defense world.

Yea - was UH-1Ns and AH-1Ws in the Corps. Had a good run in the defense industry around some fun stuff with UAVs and ISR platforms. I left that world to work for myself a little over 3 years ago though. If I do anything else in aviation it will be around getting my PPL just as a personal goal.

    Worked with a lot of Apache/Blackhawk guys in Iraq (2004 - 2005) and Afghanistan (2009 - 2012)

That’s a load of great info man. I really appreciate it. I’ll be going deep into research for the next few months and try to set myself up for the outside. I’m excited but stressed out as well as I’m sure you guys know how it is. Thanks a lot.

Of course, man! Feel free to DM me at anytime if you have questions. I don't work in that world or even close anymore. I dedicate a lot of my energy in helping veterans cope with PTSD and other issues now though. Always happy to help a fellow service member with anything.

That's some good stuff. PTSD is very real and glad there's people out there like you to help with that. I'm sure I'll have questions so I'll be DM'ing you soon enough.

At least the loader didn't hit the truck like the owner was worried about.

Saw that. That’s just stupid. I blame the operator. He should of know better. I’ve used to do that kind of work yrs ago.

Had a pleasant trip up to Silverton today to look at the weather, see what I could of the fire near US 550 and leave some money in San Juan County. The road escort was much easier than I expected, many officers working this task meant there were only three vehicles in our group and the closure is now less that 9 miles. Very little burn area visible from the road, a few areas near the road where backfires were set, but otherwise surprisingly green.

Very little traffic in Silverton, but a few motorcycle groups and some campers headed to Molas Lake (open) and the BLM land around Silverton. The Alpine Loop is completely open and camping around Eureka and Howardsville as well as Silverton is open. Lots of storm clouds brewing in the Grenadier Range east of Molas Lake and also up around Sultan, Anvil and Mt Abram. Nice and cool up there in the mid-60's...time to go up for a tour or a hike!Molas.jpgGreene St.jpgGrand Imperial.jpg

Georgetown Loop Railroad is pretty neat, west on I-70 but before the tunnels. The drive to My Evans from Idaho Springs is pretty, but go early if you want to find parking at the top and "climb a 14er". St. Mary's Glacier hike (Fall River Road, just west of Idaho Springs) is great. Also need to get there early for parking, and bring lots of sunscreen and water. Golden Gate Canyon State Park is beautiful. Check state, USFS, and/or local county websites for fire bans before you light any campfires. Very, very dry here right now.
