Who hurt you as a child?

The climbing I like is the short techy punchy stuff like gooseberry mesa or guacamole here in Utah. Challenging obstacles, but not a grind.

My personal hell is something like climbing Ben Lomond in Ogden thats 500+ft/mile for 6 or 7 miles.

I am tempted to try clips, but I really like flats.

I don't. Never had an issue. Now if you're hucking railroad crossings, then that's a different story, but even on bumpy fire roads you'll be fine.

Thanks fellas. I like riding but I also like simplicity so I can just focus on riding and not so much gear changing front and back.

So here's what I've come up with. Think this setup will work? I kinda want to stick to inexpensive stuff to make sure that's the setup I like. I can always upgrade down the road as things wear out.

Just picked up my first Tacoma and I'm brand new to the site.

Here's my current bike: 2015 Niner RIP 9 Carbon. Pretty much stock other than an upgraded cockpit, a Fox Transfer post and an Eagle GX 1x12 drivetrain. I ride all over Central California.

Do you know how to work on bikes? You're going to need the right tool for the cassette, chain, and adjusting derailleur. What shifter do you currently have? Make sure it's compatible

I'm not familiar with that website. The standard is typically www.jensonusa.com but support local business and buy from your local bike shop. Remember, we're all hippies who mountain bike ;)

This. BUT a few tools from REI, Backcountry, etc and a degree from University of Youtube can save you some coin and teach you something along the way.

Two years ago a friend said, "Instead of paying for the service, buy the tools you need to do it yourself. YouTube will be a good teacher." Since then I've gathered tools and skills needed to do almost everything myself (bearing, cups, and BB presses excluded). It's worth it, and you learn a lot about your bike and how it works.
And just like wrenching on anything, you know it's done right.

Got my Kings for the 4 corners, Camburg UCAs, just need the 096 dakars and related hardware that I'm gonna order when I get back from vacation in 2 weeks, and then its install time! Gonna make the shuttle truck much more comfy!

Plus I am moving 22 miles closer to work, which is gonna save a shitload of gas money.

Yea bro Kong’s on all four corners is a must! I remember back when I first got king coils how weak my rear felt afterwards. You must be pumped for the rear! Damn meng you must be out in BFE!

Used to work a lot farther south so living in Provo made sense, now I work in the city.

In VA terms, think working in Stafford and living in Woodbridge then taking a new job at the Pentagon as a reasonable comparison. Traffic is slightly better that the DC area, but no real mass transit opportunities. We do have VRE and metro type offerings but not nearly as convenient or organized.
