What's the point of the Limited trim?

Ok let me clear something up here...I was looking for a Cement TRD Sport WITH TECH AND PREMIUM in Socal, it was non existent, and in January, non-existent everywhere. Now if you did find it with TECH and PREMIUM, it had a lot of more garbage added to it that drove the cost up more than the price of a limited. If you found a Sport with TECH and Premium ONLY, then, the price was the same as a Limited. With the limited, those packages are BOTH STANDARD, which means your hunting experience becomes easier because now you're just looking for a limited (assuming you wanted a short bed on the Sport, because that's all you get on the Limited). So essentially instead of trying to hunt down a bedazzled Sport, you're just looking for a "base" limited, but all "base" limiteds are Fully Loaded in their "base" form, there is only one flavor of Limited. Any accessory thereafter can be added or removed, makes negotiating and hunting easier as now you're just trying to find the color you want. Now as some have mentioned, the chrome, yes, hideous. I've dechromed every part of it and now got exactly what I wanted, except the Hood Scoop...maybe with time and funds. This is just my experience...I hope it makes sense to some. A lot of this also had to do with securing a Cement color without special order/paying MSRP or negotiating down extra crap only to comeback to the price of an MSRP Limited, it was easier to negotiate, which was not easy!

 

This makes sense for Sport vs Limited but the Offroad Premium has additional features above and beyond those in the Sport and Limited.

 

I got a scoop! it was an accident, as I ordered a plain hood, but I will take it. I may de-chrome as time goes on but Im okay with it for now. I broke down and ordered the 'bulge' so now I have a limited sport.

 

Sonar parking

 

Locking rear diff and crawl control would be really nice to have.

 

And blind spot detection with cross traffic alert...

 

The Technology package has the Sonar, JBL stereo and Blindspot Monitoring.

 

I dunno if Canadian spec gets it too now . But 16 17 it was the only way to get JBL and sonar .

Think they changed it now though but meh

 

Are they full time 4x4 now or something?

 

The Limited 4Runners are only available as full time 4x4 with a Torsen center diff or as a 4x2 no part time 4x4 option. All other 4Runners are either part time 4x4 like the Tacoma or 4x2.

 

I wasn’t aware 4runners came in 4x2 configuration anymore. As for the Tacoma it’s part time 4x4, are you saying they should be full time like some 4runners?

 

No I was just saying that the Limited 4Runner actually makes sense since it actually adds features that are not available on the other trim levels. The Limited 4Runners have a lot of tech the lower trims don't even have the option to get such as push button start, keyless entry door handles, front and rear parking sensors and ventilated front seats.

I have blind spot and sonor in my off road.

 

I had a 2013 dclb limited, this time I was going to get a sport with premium package because I wanted a long bed and the limited doesn't offer the long bed,dealer didn't have any on the lot and showed me the Magnetic gray metallic limited, I loved it the second I saw it! I really loved the look of the truck, and I don't really need a long bed, so I bought it! It has chrome but it's not overdone, in my opinion and I love the wheels and hickory interior so much better than the Sport! At the end of the day, it's a Tacoma,it doesn't matter what package you get, it's gonna be a great truck!

 

I put the scoop hood on my Limited and blacked the emblems.

Can you order the scooped hood separately? If so I think I might get a TRD pro and have the dealership change out the hood. I hate fake scoops.

 

This is where Toyota copied Subaru (they own 16 or 18% of Subaru) --with Subaru Outback --only way you can get the dark brown leather is on the "touring" (top of line) model.
