Yea I get what you are saying. I always feel bad for the guys that start south and head to the city. Unless they leave at 430 then it’s a two hour commute.

Upgrading full drive train on the hardtail I’m picking up today. Should I shop around and piece together an NX set that I’m assuming will be a bit discounted due to the NX Eagle release, or should I just spend the extra 100-150 and get the NX Eagle?

This is a low key hardtail. Not going to be bombing many trails with it. Cruising around town. Small trails here and there to get to other bars. Maybe a loop on the local trails to mix it up from my genius.

Eagle has awesome range. If you don't need the range, go NX. 11 sp. is still amazing, and that's what I built my trail bike with. Don't fall for the latest-greatest, get what you need.

Welcome, maybe we’ll cross paths on the trails. I live in Santa Cruz but ride in SLO/MDO a couple times a year. Black Tallboy2, all stock so far, but will probably swap my OEM 2x10 setup for an Eagle NX soon, my chainrings and cassette are showing their age and I’d love to go 1x if I need new cogs anyway.

I used to race BMX as a kid and would always tear apart and rebuild my bikes. Obviously not the same as a MTB but a lot of the mechanics are similar. I've also built many motorcycles, so I'm mechanically inclined. I imagine some Youtube videos will take the mystery out of it. Current shifter is the stock one. It's a 9 speed so I'll have to replace it.

That’s what I’m thinking. I have the gx eagle on my genius and love it, but I ride that bike in places this bike will never remotely see, and this bike on streets and baby trails the genius will never see.

Going to stick with the NX top to bottom for sub $300.

Did the DC shuffle for a few months and couldn't stand it. 1.5 hours in the AM, and 2 hours in the afternoon. Ugh.

I'm lucky and am 25 minutes from work most days. have yet to hit traffic. I dont think I cold handle a 2hr drive home, i'd go crazy.

I'm starting to venture into the world of bike maintenance and build up my tool kit. so far its just basic maintenance but I want to be able to completely overhaul a bike myself eventually.

Happy Fathers Day ride this morning. Was good to get out. Thrillium was nice and tacky with the recent rains.31876B8A-A045-4421-9CA2-CA2462E21DF9.jpg

Don't transport it this way, but it's the only pic of bike in back that I have right now.

I've seen so many videos of that gap and didn't know where it was. Did they block the trail?
