He was being sarcastic, because it's a sweet battery, and yes it will work as a main.

the system will only draw what it needs.

the battery has an ability to put out 2000 watts, but that doesn't mean as soon as you hook it up it'll dump as much as it can into the system

I'm sure I'm going to make someone mad but this battery is pure snake oil IMO. It's more marketing then performance.

They hide behind words like "power cell". Every damn battery is a power cell. They use something that audio nuts can relate to - 3800 watts. Audio guys like lots of "watts" in the equipment. The watts the battery has is available total watt hours or in other words AMP hours which is battery speak. It is NOT continuous watts. 3800 watts in a 12V battery is 317 amps, which for a auto or deep-cycle battery is quite normal. Also this is nothing more than a deep-cycle AGM (Absorbed Gas Mat) battery which is twice as expensive for the same wattage/amp hours as a good old walmart battery. A AGM battery is used for equipment that doesn't stay upright like airplanes and some boats. If your truck goes upside down you have bigger problems then needing a loud stereo.

Also regardless on what they tell you, a charging system in a vehicle is not designed for a deep-cycle battery - especially an AGM. They say the alternator can't supply enough power so you need the battery. Where do you think the battery gets it's charging current from?

Now all that being said, AGM batteries might have a place in the trunk of a car where hydrogen gas from charging regular lead-acid batteries might become explosive. An engine compartment is hot and is bad for AGM batteries. They are sensitive to abuse. My Tacoma doesn't have a trunk.

See http://www.batteryfaq.org/ in the section "7. WHAT DO I LOOK FOR IN BUYING A NEW BATTERY?"

I'm just trying to save you some hard earned money for some other mod. No offense is intended.

    ^^^^ very good info.

it won't save him money though since he already has the battery laying around.

but yes, there is a good reason that an optima yellow top is not an ideal choice for a primary battery, but a red top will work great.

    Logan,
it is still safe to run this battery, Knayrb is just saying that there are much better options
