i have noticed a vibration that is getting progressively worse. Especially around 35 MPH. I notice there is a support the driveshaft runs thru. There is play between the bracket and driveshaft. Anyone know if it is supposed to be like that ? U joints seem tight

If I’m understanding you, you’re referring to the carrier bearing. It’s normal to have some play, if it’s excessive, time to replace it.

    any modifications to your suspension?

Normal to have some play, the u-joints are suspect and Toyota has released an extended warranty for the rear prop shaft joints. Inspect them closer with the shaft unloaded and try to find any play in them.

Go to the dealership! There is a recall :) I have a TIS account, if you are not tge original owner you may not have gotten the notice.

Have them check it out, regardless, free U-Joints, got mine about a month ago! :)

No modifications at all. I will bring it to Toyota and have them look at it. I thought the recall was for one specific u joint

I put the truck neutral and went underneath. I found play in the last section of the driveshaft their is a rubber boot over the end and looks like one action of driveshaft goes into the last one . I believe this is where the vibration is coming from. Is this covered on this recall ?

Thats the center bearing. Thats not covered, but bring it in anyway. Here is a tip... they have to take it all apart (except press the bearing) to change the recall ujoints. So if center bearing is bad, ask them if you pay for the part (the center bearing) will they change it for you while they already have it taken apart?

If center bearing is bad, dealership parts and labor to change prob $600+ , part only, under $300.

So go get new ujoints, then if center bearing is bad, see if they will do the above.

Ujoints would be at no cost, if they would want more than the cost of the center bearing and 1 hr later, i'd tell 'em to fly a kite and goto another dealership.

Save you some $$$ and HEADACHE, ive done my center bearing before myself... it sucks! Lol!

Brought the truck in to The dealer for the vibration. I was told my drive shaft and u joints are fine. It's the left front bearing. They wanted $600. I bought the part for 240 and Mieneki is doing the work .

They said the vibration was from front bearing? The symptoms you descibed don't match. But please keep us posted with results. In the future, a tip, if you suspect bearings, jack the truck up off the ground, set on STURDY jack stands. Sit down and grab the top of the tires and try to push it back and forth as hard as you can. If there is any back and forth play, the bearing is bad. Also spin the tire as fast as you can, (or put in drive, sit in the truck and have a friend at a safe distance listen from the side of the truck) listen for a steady 'womp', 'womp' type sound. If you hear it, bearing is bad.

Let us know how it worked out.

I bought a pair on here from a member who makes them. If I remember right it was around $300. Maybe look them up and snag one, do it yourself and save some coin?

That’s a good price. I paid 320 for one side including the hub and 100 for the repair
