    OK Pro Owners,

I have search for threads relating to this and haven't found one yet. So if its out there let me know.

Im in need of some advice/guidance. Next on the list of mods is suspension. Ive read through as many of the suspension specific threads as I could find, but they all involve OR or Sports swapping out shocks and coilers. I couldn't find any that address leaving the 17 Pro suspension (shocks/coilovers) on the truck and talking about their limitations. Im carrying some heavier weight with a rack and CVT Denali RTT. Loaded up for camping with the wife and 3 kids, stock is not enough, and we will definitely be pushing 700 lb over the rear axle fully kitted for trips. Below is an idea of what I want to run, along with the concerns/questions I have. If you guys have any advice or experience, please let me know. Suspension is something I want to do right...once.

    Parts
-BFG 285 KO2s ATs on the stock TRD Rims
-Deaver Expedition 2 Rear Leaf Pack (500-700 lbs) (3" advertised lift)
-Timbren Active Bump Stops with U-BOLT Flip Kit
    -Center Drive Bearing Adjustment Kit
    -Brake Line Extensions

    Questions/Concerns
The TRD Pro Already has a 1" factory lift. So this would give me 4" total lift in the rear.
-Is this too much lift for the Fox 2.5s that come on the pro?
-Will I be able to adjust the front shocks/coilovers enough to compensate for the rear lift?
-Would adding spacers to the front coilovers solve this problem to make
up for the lift without sacrificing performance and/or binding?
-Will this also push my UCAs past there limit and bind up the front?

Any of you running something like this? What worked/didnt work for you? I looked at the OME Dakar spring packs for awhile, but saw mixed reviews.

If I need to throw some sandbags back there to run closer to the 500lb constantly I will. I don't want it to underperform when I need it, loaded on the trail with the family on board.

    Thanks

    -MM
**EDIT: Currently overseas. Trying to figure this out and order stuff so I can do this when i get back.

This is what Im currently running.

factory leafs on the pro are the same as the non pros. So they don’t actually have 1” lift over anything

Directly off the description of the leafs "leaf packs will provide approximately 3” of lift. Lift height considers constant weight at 300-400 lbs". With the RTT and rack weighing ~300lbs, I read that as 3" over stock height with my rack and RTT. I haven't found anything stating what the limits on the suspension is, so I don't know what I can get out the coils. The only thing I could find reads that the Pro comes with a "1" over stock lift".

Im just trying to figure out whats realistic, and where I need to adjust my plan.

The leaf pack will give 3" from your current height. Forget the 2nd gen to 3rd gen debate on height. Bottom line as a rule of thumb you can on average get 2" lift in the front and 3' in the rear with a pack or AAL.

The front shocks on the pro aren't adjustable. You would need aftermarket coil overs.

Yes and no. It's really nice suspension if your not rigging it out. For someone who just lives in the middle of no where or does crappy roads on a regular basis the ibs on it drives really well on roads where stock OR suspension would chatter you off road.

But as soon as you want more height or the ability for more weight, it might save money with a other package and put the money into better suited parts.

Tires, suspension and skid plate on my OR and I'm still just under $4k less than a pro.

I'd probably make a full list of everything you plan on putting on your truck, what you're looking to do with the truck for traveling, and your overall budget, and get input from there.

Budget is a big factor and I agree with the others you will need to do a full swap of the suspension. My personal setup:

Front - King 2.5 ext w/ remote resis and 700# springs
Rear - King 2.5 ext w/ remote resis
    Deaver Stage 2
    Ubolt flip kit
    Timbrem Bump stops

Depending on the wheeling you might not need remote resis so you can look at some other brands.

If you go above a stage 3 fox kit youll be hard pressed to beat their price with a Dakar pack.

I've got 2.5 dsc and 2.0 with compression adjusters in rear with medium Dakar pack and jba arms.

    Works great for me.

This. Except good luck getting anything from headstrong. If you actually are ready to buy and actually want the parts, call wheelers offroad and they can get you fixed it. It isn't a side gig for them.

For what it’s worth OP, because I’m in a second gen Pro, I absolutely love my heavy duty dakars. I wouldn’t pair your factory fox suspension with a heavy rear leaf pack, you’re going to overextend and ruin them. Take it all off, get a setup that works for your needs, sell the factory pro suspension and recoup some coin... good luck!

Must be nice. I still have an unanswered message from December. I waited till January and called wheelers for full top end icon and other goodies for the 3rd gen 4runner project. They got me fixed up quick.

    *edit: you have a holden?
