That's a sweet way to carry it - I have a spare as well and I was contemplating making a roof top mount or in bed...

I'm glad I'm not the one over prepped for the worse case scenario. I have an impact gun and sawzaw up in the roof box...

You will need a bigger truck or a cargo trailer after this trip to carry every thing from home. Lol

    Good plan!

Tacoma truck size is perfect. LOL.

Organization is the key to being prepared for almost every contingency and having fun on a trip like this.

The truck is 94% ready to go. Not even close to maxed out on space. Just gotta load up the chuck box, perishables and fishing gear.

Plastic bins from Costco. There’s a wooden half shelf at bedrail height that keeps the bins in place for those off camber and bouncy moments. Top shelf has tie downs and can hold another set of bins (not needed for this trip) or this is where I throw the lightweight stuff like My Little Pony and Disney princess pillows, blankets and camping mattress. Rule of thumb for better off road handling of the truck: heaviest shit on the bed, forward of the rear wheels. Lighter stuff up top.
    02DDBA87-F7AB-4989-8128-79A96EFECD54.jpg

Molle panel seat covers from Costco. Molle bags contain anything that I need quickly. First aid, eye wash, epi pen, rescue inhaler, soft shackles, gloves, winch line weights, winch remote, some hand tools. TP (and hand sanitizer) is the quickest, easiest to access ;)
    B8266F80-16D2-4974-84EA-8AAE49F94DAB.jpg

Plano double long gun All Weather case from Amazon. Most of my recovery gear is loaded up here. Very quick access.
    E2CC24CC-4F74-4560-8514-099F1A6D0729.jpg

Static rope, dynamic rope, jumper cables, Li-ion jumper battery, full mechanics tool set, 3/8” impact, 3/8” drill, 6” angle grinder w cut-off wheel, multimeter, BC fire extinguisher, extended length road flares, flare gun, socks and a change of underwear :)
    D85557F1-1CF8-4CA0-BAA7-AE955A0150EA.jpg

If my ceiling Molle panel, center console Molle panel and faux “Prinsu” cap rack arrive on Tuesday, then I’ll have too much organized space. LOL.

@Skierrichy says it quite nicely: “it’s better to have and not need, than to need and not have”
