Pros and cons of using a bed mat

Do you use one? Does the rubber bed mat help or hinder?

 

Yes.

Wouldn't do w/o it as it keeps sliding stuff to a minimum.

I periodically remove it. Like for hauling a 200# box to the shipper.

That needs to slide easy so the wife can move it with less effort.

Actually a good answer. Hard to slide stuff into the bed but it’s good protection if you care about that. As others have said, it also reduces shit sliding around to a minimum.

I keep mine in the bed unless its a heavy item that needs to slide. I picked up a 270lb toolbox months ago (boxed up), and had to unload by myself.
I had left the bedmat on my garage floor before i picked up the toolbox (loaded by 3 ppl). Got home, backed truck into garage, moved bedmat under tailgate, slid the box to the end of the tailgate (easy peasy).... made a pulley system out of a cpl tiedowns and bedrail cleats, and lowered the toolbox onto bedmat on garage floor, moved truck, put on casters, locked em, then tipped toolbox onto its wheels.

The bedmat has a time and place.

 

I can't believe I went 11 years without one. One of the best 90 bucks I have ever spent.

 

IMO, a bed mat is one of those must-have items.

 

Agree with those above. The only negative I can think of is when you need to slide a heavy item into the bed. The mat is pretty tacky so it won't allow sliding (as is its purpose).

 

I cut my own out of a stall mat before I bought a bed-rug. Would highly suggest putting something back there tho! Saves your bed as well as your items from being thrown about!

 

I have had mine in since the first week i have had my truck. almost 5 years. NEVER ONCE have I felt like damn this is annoying and wanted to remove it. Every truck should come with one IMO.

I also took the time to get a lil carriage bolt and washer to run topside down through the middle front bed drain hole and captured with a wing nut on the bottom side of the bed. This makes it to where you cant walk by and pick it up out of my bed, also keeps the mat from sliding out of the truck when using the front brake of my dirtbike when unloading.

 

First thing i purchased for my 2012 taco was a bed mat, definetly a must

Wouldnt be without the bed mat, if it needs to come out for some reason all about 5 seconds to remove it,

Love mine. Debated on it for about 2 years, then seen a group buy on here and figured id give it a shot, if i didnt like it would resell it.

Now i dunno how i went without it. Its a lifesaver man, just every now and then i take it out and wash it and the bed, i hail alot of debre from some property im clearing out, so i need to clean it all. But you definitly wont regret it.

 

This was one of the first things I bought after getting my Tacoma. Love it. Cleaning it is super easy too.

 

Only 1 con for me, weighs 25 lbs. Also blocks exhaust noise a little. I've had several over several trucks, very useful.

 

^ This. But there's a lot more times I don't want stuff to slide. A must have, money well spent item.
