Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Been in Yellowstone for a week, laughing my ass off at this right now

 

Tactrix arrived today! (Two days earlier than quoted.)

 

Fuel mileage update. On my trip to Yellowstone.

104 87 tune AT with 91 octane in the tank, 265 75 16 bfgs stock gears, 67 mph.

Truck was loaded down. Cases of water, Gerry can, generator, food, spare parts, tools, ect...

We cought a tale wind from Salt Lake City Utah to Idaho falls. I was driving dodge and kept radioing my wife in the taco. I thought the gauge was broken when she said she had more than half a tank left.

25.8 mpg with a slight tail wind.

On the trip home we at 71 mph,

21.5 mpg with 0 wind.

Not bad.

 

I plan on getting this tune in about 2 months but can someone explain why Toyota hasn't tried to contact these guys who have created this tuning? From reading threads and comments about guys trucks the flash tune makes the truck a completely different truck in gas milage and performance Toyota are idiots if they dont try and hire these guys

 

How hard is the setup and downloading of this tuning ?

I'm hoping there is a new much easier way of downloading the tune.

 

Nothing really. They want him to tune a Camry or something.

I’m sure this has been asked and forgive me in advance if it has. But with a windows laptop all I need is the tune from ovtune for 600 and the obd2 tactrix adaptor from them for 169 right?

 

Well I screwed my install up - failed to push the start button second time to get to 'ON' it was in the accessory mode - which caused the ECU ID process to FAIL! Might check that and be sure Windows Defender is off (real time protection and scan). Windows Defender turned itself back on and that caused me to run the registration more than once - but at least it was on the same computer I licensed the Tune with! After I figured out my screw up the ECU ID process worked fine - files sent to Mat at the Zen support desk. Hope you get your problems figured out. .

That would be great. Looking forward to some type of video - but so far the paper version does the trick

 

yep. Or find someone with the hardware that will loan/rent it (Tactrix obdii with usb cable) to you.

 

And the tactrix is the open port 2 that comes with the usb cable right?
