Hey guys! I was wondering if there were any good options to play music from your phone to the stock head unit without using a Bluetooth FM transmitter? This is the unit I have now...

Yes there is, and it plugs in behind the factory radio. You’ll have to search for it. I have one but can’t remember the name of the unit. I’ll see if I can research it.

They also make cheap 2 din decks that you can just swap to. Wireing in a new deck is really easy

If you're feeling brave you could even attempt to solder aux into the factory radio

I really want to swap my head unit, but the idea of having my head unit look like a disco/ rave with splashing dolphins n stuff is just not that appealing. Some will say touch screen, but the radio placement in the first gen tacoma is too low for that

Yeah i have a touch screen and even on full brightness its hard to see. If i was you just swap to a single din and put a CB under that

i have the same head unit and worked in a sketchy area where i didn't want a flashy replacement. Several years ago, i bought a https://www.usaspec.com/p-327-pa15-toy.aspx. Not cheap, but it works like a champ and also charges my iPhone. I have one of the older ones that has the 30pin iPhone connector . I just added the Apple 30pin to lightning adaptor and it works great with my phone's

I just saw the craziest thing in a WalMart near me that would fit the bill!

It's a cassette tape-shaped Bluetooth receiver. It even has a built in microphone.

Pop it in the deck, connect via bluetooth and voila! You have bluetooth connectivity without the pain of the FM component, and even a microphone so you can carry a phone call hands free or use voice navigation, etc.

Plus the pure novelty of a bluetooth cassette. How much more hipster does it get? lmfao.

Method i used was aux cassette tape into a multi port aux splitter. This allowed me to run one aux cable under my arm rest for ipod while the other aux cable went to an aux bluetooth transmitter that runs on usb power. With all the things tucked behind the dash im able to have clutter free way of playing music without having cables being in the way. Good luck with any choice you make.
