You can raise the back section a bit but not fold it over.

I have a Tri Fold Hard Cover and I know it gets damn hot during any time the temps get above 75 degrees. During the summer I hate to see how hot it gets in the bed. I’m sure a cooler or fridge would be struggling to keep contents ice cold.

You just confirmed that a short bed rack on my long bed truck might be the ticket

Maybe. I’ll get an insulating cover if it is an issue. The fridges are pretty nifty.

Which rack specifically? Most of them cover the tonneau to the point you can't open it.

I have a kb voodoo bed rack with the tonneau mounts on a short bed . You cannot open the cover and if you did it your way of thinking with short bed rack on long bed you might just be able to open the first flip on the tonneau. But not even 100% sure on that.

From what I understand @KB Voodoo is making a rack that can work with a tonneau and still open but as it stands you can't open tonneau with rack on top regardless of height... And mid height would be even worse if you could somehow open the cover since you won't have the height for the cover to fold back.

For what it's worth with my canoe tied to the roof I can't open the cover because the bow of my boat is slightly below the cab height and the cover just hits it on the first fold.

Put the fridge in the back seat if you won't have passengers back there. That's what I did for camping .

And I ditch the tonneau and just have the rack on.
All the Plano totes I use are weatherproof any gear I'm worried about getting wet goes in the cab

I'd double check compatibility before pulling the trigger 100%

Might be worth not having the cover that's what I did. Just makes it a bitch to get stuff out.
I'm considering putting a canvas tarp on my rack to help keep the weather out a little

Yes it's a Voodoo. I just used some 1/2" all-thread with washers and nuts. It's worked fine so far.

But what did you use to put the nut on. Looks like some sort of big handle type.

I did the same but with wing nuts .not crazy about it looking for alternative

I will Guess the easiest thing is to email kbvoodoo and ask if their rack works with whatever tonneau i decide to go with. Probably the retrax

Exactly what I do. I am a Terroriy Manager and use my tonneau during the week to store my catalogs and work junk during the week. Friday the tonneau cover comes off.

So it does leak.... mine does. A little bit at the folds.
    Not much tho.

There are mid racks that work with the tri-fold. Take a look at VooDoo - here.

I think I got those big wing nut things from Tractor Supply. It's been over a year ago so can't say for sure.
