I guess I'd like to see closer to the tool box and your hinge. Just curious as to how the little things turned out! Looks like something that might be worth doing next truck I get instead of paying a bunch for one.

In the photo taken from underneath, you can see 2 little 2x pieces heading toward the tool box, they tuck under the step in the tool box and hold the front down. I’m using bungees for now, but to make it more secure, I could switch to ratchet straps. This one overlaps the tailgate by about an inch. With it clinched down tight, I can’t close the tailgate so I need to rethink it. The bungees give me just enough stretch to lift up on it to close the gate. I don’t think you could get it open far enough to undo the bungees. The cross pieces go rail to rail and keep it centered on the bed. The back cross piece just helps support the hinge.

Good point. I guess it's too late now.

On the way to the liquor store this morning, after soccer, I was stopped at the light and an old guy pulls up next to me in a minivan and complimented me on the truck. Said he really liked it and looked good. Felt great!

That looks really good. Kinda wish I made my own. I want to get a box but no good covers with a box and that covers well with out breaking the bank.

I agree, I bet @Pugga could sell a few of these, especially locally if shipping wasn't involved to keep pricing down.

If there was enough interest, I’d be interested in hosting a mod day. There’s an economy of scale, it’s about $100, but you can get the cost per unit down by cutting down on scrap wood. I have a lot of plywood left over. It took 2 sheets to do mine, I bet I could make 3 with 5 sheets though. The Tacoma is narrower and shorter, might be able to pull it off with less.
I just sanded it and used gold ole fashioned Rustoleum, oil based paint. It’s rough because I did minimal sanding and painted it outside with all the pollen. If I took some care with how I prepped and painted it, it would be nice and smooth and almost look like vinyl. If you wanted to be fancy, you could certainly adhere some vinyl to the top and really make it water tight.

I have th same issue with mine! I thought I was just being crazy, nice to know I’m not the only one driven nuts by that. I have them all around 55 cold, they get up to around 61ish hot. Amazing how much pressure they gain from driving.

Posting on Facebook classifieds has to be worse than Craigslist. I haven’t used either in a while. Posted my wheels and tires, get every person wondering why I won’t sell for half of what I’m listing for. About ready to just keep the things for winter wheels/tires.

Just ran into a nice red 1st Gen at my local gas station! Nice wheels and tires, and apparently a CB. And he's local in Somerville!

Always nice to run into another enthusiast.

In other news, I transported an 8'x6'x2' tall, heavy, wooden bookshelf from Braintree to Weston for my girlfriend's sister today. Not much fun, but she got a good deal on Craigslist apparently.
