Does anyone on the thread have the ability to pull down production numbers for our trucks?

I took delivery of my truck on Saturday morning after placing my special order in January of this year. Yes, I have been waiting since the last week in January for my 2018 DCSB Cement with leather, tech and a manual trans. Premium and Technology Packages are not available configurations for manual transmission trucks within the Cincinnati Dealership Region. Therefore, we needed to special order or find a trade from the Rockies or New England. I wasn't in a rush so we just ordered exactly what I wanted.

On Saturday morning, I chatted with the GM at the dealership and he told me that my specific truck is 1 of 8 total with that exact configuration as produced by Toyota for this model year for the combined US and Canadian markets. He actually pulled me into his office and showed me the production stats on the mainframe/purchasing system.

Long story short - what does this 1 of 8 actually mean? I am not sold that my truck is a unicorn and there has to be more than than 8 total 2018 DCSB TRDOR Cement Manuals with sunroof, leather and parking sensors. With plans for modest mods and upgrades, I specifically ordered my rig with absolutely no accessories or adds from the factory or stealership. No floor mats, no bed cover, no wheel locks, no flaps, no running boards or any other accessories.

Any wisdom from the homies on TW for what this 1 of 8 actually means would certainly help to refine my story. After all, this is the important stuff that gets talked about over beers.

 

I had a similar experience trying to find a premium and tech. I was told there was 3 on the ground, by the time I made my decision there was zero... So I was put into a situation where I placed a deposit and waited until it was built. I never had a chance to to wait however so I don't know how long it actually would have been. I read on here about the moonroof making the roof much lower.. I went and sat in a wrong color limited (I wanted OR). I didn't fit at 6'1. So I got the tech package and had it here in a couple days. I was prepared to wait a couple months.

I'm guessing the dealership you're working with is getting taken out by dealerships with a higher priority which is based on how many they sell. You are asking for something that is probably only made every so often. They are also breaking records with the amount of Tacoma's they're selling right now so there could be plenty more in line before your dealership. You've got more patience than I do if you waited that long.

Have you been given a VIN? If not, I'm sure it's still going to be a very long wait.

 

How did you get leather without premium?

@hellppy - sorry for the typo. I have the Premium + Tech Packages. Premium includes sunroof and leather. The only thing that is missing is the JBL.

 

I missed that part. So many of these posts right now are because people are frustrated they can't get the particular truck they want.

So are you wondering if you have a collectors item? The answer is no, lol.

I have this same config. I doubt the quantity of 8 is correct. There's gotta be more of them out there.

 

does long bed premium not have JBL? I have premium on my SB and it does...
