How long before I grenade my diff?

Hey all,

I lifted my truck a few weeks back and initially everything rode smooth. Now I have a pulsing vibe between 15-45 mph that goes away when I engage 4wd. The vibration seems to have grown in the last few days. I have an appointment to get the ECGS bearing installed on July 3rd but will probably rack up 500-1000 miles in that time? Should I be concerned about any permanent damage?

Gonna be a while before that bearing goes.

Mine has been making that noise for 3 years.

I've heard of no differential failures because of this. It's just annoying.

as long as you weren't in 4x4 when those photos were taken, your diff shouldn't grenade any time soon.

 

i was in 4lo doing 80 while overlanding to starbucks

 

lets run a trail or drink a beer sometime, or both.

 

i appreciate the humor but this is unnerving.

 

Do you have time to do it yourself, it’s a pretty quick job. This way you don’t have to wait

 

wish i did, work is crazy, friends in town this weekend and by the time next weekend rolls around the truck will be going into the shop 2 days later anyways

@tacotacochaquito is up in Denver too and we've done some wheeling. Last run we did was china wall.

 

Makes sense, long story short you will be fine in that amount of time. If some rare instance it screws up it would be the bearing but that’s getting replaced anyway

How high did you lift?

 

2.25ish hub to fender is 22.5" in the front

 

You good.... my first mod everytime on my 2nd and 3rd gen was the ecgs bushing replacement.

 

probably not a bad call, wish i did it when i installed initially but oh well
