It's my truck not some frigging stamp I keep under glass. I plan on using it for a long time so if there's something I'd like to change I'm not going to sweat messing with it.

[Op], You're boring. We make Tacomas to suit our personalities here. If you like stock look then quit creating contraversy with everyone elses thoughts. This is a counterproductive thread.

That’s my plan as well. My 2012 went everywhere I wanted stock so I don’t see the need to jack it up and start breaking shit

I played the lift game as a young man and there is nothing wrong with it. However, as a middle aged man now, haha, I much prefer the attributes of a stock truck. The reliability characteristics reign supreme for me now. I have a job that requires me to drive quite a bit and I need utter dependability above all else. Now, I have done little things to my OF, tint was a must here in Florida, I added the homelink mirror, led interior lights, ac drain mod and now looking for a good weapon retention method. But these things will not effect reliability and only increase the usability and functionality of the truck. Anyway, just my opinion. Have a blessed day. Kevin.

I am not bored enough to sit around trying to piss people off on the internet. I am interested because I have considered doing substantial work on suspension and drivetrain components, but it seems to be more of a liability than a gain. I like to get out as far as I can to hunt and fish. Most of the time I am by myself. I find reliability might be my greatest asset in these situations. I really value the experience on this forum and the insight this experience brings.

A lot of members come here for maintenance advice and info on fixing something. You can be an enthusiast without spending thousands on lifts and tires.

There’s upgrades here like replacing plastic with metal ie bumpers, tailgate, trim, radio knobs etc that I’m into. Also, getting TSB info on items that need to be addressed or fixed.

Actually, most of the sub forums on here are not about Tacomas at all.

there will always be a liability when upgrading your vehicle. mitigating that risk is user discretion. i know all the work i get done will improve capabilities of my rig. this is why i upgrade parts as needed.

That would be me. My #1 reason for purchasing a Tacoma was durability and cost of ownership. Messing with suspension and such has a higher probability of something else breaking. My OR doesn't always stay on the pavement and is plenty capable of getting me up some rough roads to hidden fishing lakes high in the mountains. I need to feel confident that it won't break while way off the beaten path.

I'm not messing with my suspension. I did buy some Method wheels and KO2 tires, but in stock size.

Mine is stock and do not have any plans to lift, cut, trim, derp it, bad-assitize, or Bro it out. Just a good reliable very utilitarian truck for me.

There's almost always a price to pay (beyond literal dollars) for a mod. Is what it is. That being said there's still plenty of justification to mod anyway. Gotta pay to play as always.

Tint, nerf bars, mud flaps, bed mat here. I would call it 'personalization' not really mods.

Agreed, I crossed the line when I started cutting, drilling, and tapping wiring but other than swapping lift bags for bump stops haven't done suspension mods. It's not out of lack of willingness though but from lack of need. I don't see anything special about keeping it stock though, it preserves value but it's not a source of pride, quite the contrary(a lack of accomplishment isnt an accomplishment, more like a participation trophy). Some people lease their vehicles though so who am I to judge, just dont expect any kudos for doing nada.

I’ve modded all my vehicles an when I got the Tacoma plan was to leave it stock an upgrade with something I felt was better than oem. Didn’t last long with everything I’ve done lost some mpgs but no vibrations or rattles or squeaks. I wasn’t happy with a stock truck did everything I needed it to just felt boring.
Now I’m happy with it no complaints I knew the possible issues whenever I went to do something an was prepared to live with the consequences. If your happy with your truck the way it is. That’s all that matters personalize it however you see fit. Stock or modified your in a Tacoma an part of a great community.

The way ive always looked at it is when i see a nice 88 or 92 etc the ones that make me stop and look and wish I had it are the stock unmolested ones. When i see lifted or super modded I look once and move on. Nothing like a nicely kept stocker. All i do is go slightly bigger on tires and just drive it
