Green stuff is fine for caliper pins (but that's it) but so is this and you can also use this on brake pad tabs and sliders as well as sliding contact points in drums.

Do you think I need to do my Taco drums and shoes too? They're original to the truck with 96,000 miles.

Honestly no, the drums shoes last forever because they hardly ever get any real use. Mine have great shoe life still, they're just old and squeaky likely from the aftermarket drums someone put on.

The drums do very little breaking vs the front so they tend to last a long time on trucks. But it doesn’t hurt to pull the drums off and check them and maybe lube up some spots
But if it aint broke then dont worry about it

Oh, also that kit will be fine for working on the taco, but buy a nice pick set too, they're invaluable

I figured out what socket set I'm getting. It's Snap-On's Blue Point line of tools, 155 Pieces. Snap-On quality for a fraction of the price. It's basically identical to Snap-On besides being made overseas. Carries the same warranty.

I'm going to invest a couple hundred in getting some actual Snap-On screwdrivers and ratchets. I use those tools so much I don't mind paying extra for good quality.

I still get my student discount so all Snap-On tools are 60-70% off for me. $15 for a 3/8 ratchet is perfect.

Cruiser axle is much beefier 9.5" ring and pinion set and has rear discs that are compatible with a proportioning valve setup and still can use our parking brakes too. The axle shafts can be changed on the fly and wheel bearings and seals are easier and cheaper. It is stronger, easier and almost the same width... plus it is cheaper, gonna pick up the whole thing with gears (that are the same ratio as mine) for $250. I have a bent axle shaft right now and I figure I might as well ditch the 8.4 since it is just a pain to work on and much weaker.

I paid $120 for five Snappy ratchets of all different kinds back in the day, been good to me, you won't regret buying some. I ended up with one 36 tooth soft handle 1/2 ratchet, one 80 tooth soft handle 1/2 (rounded style) ratchet, one 36 tooth 3/8 chrome handle, one 80 tooth 3/8 chrome handle, and one freshly rebuilt 1/4 chrome short

I used Snap-On tools exclusively for the three months I had that auto-tech class. The quality was just absolutely amazing. I fell in love with their 80 tooth ratchets.

I can see why they charge so damn much now.

Not on the taco, SAS'd tacos sit too weirdly for me, and I tend to like to go fast. If I decide to build a crawler I'll buy a more beat up 80 series as they have a better wheelbase and are easy to get ready for things like the rubicon and such.

Just want the beefier rear axle, hopefully this doesn't mess with my shock setup too much but that's part of the fun right?

@Speedytech7 Do you know any Bash/Command Line stuff? I'm having the darndest time trying to install Adobe CS5. I'm getting a 'revoked security certificate' error and OSX won't let me proceed. I read online that I can use 'xattr -c' to sudo the computer to trust it.

I plugged this into the terminal:

    StudentMacBook6:~ t<REDACTED>2018$ xattr -c /Users/t<REDACTED>2018/Desktop/DesignPremium_CS5_5_LS1.dmg/

    And got this:

    xattr: No such file: /Users/t<REDACTED>2018/Desktop/DesignPremium_CS5_5_LS1.dmg/

Am I supposed to put a forward slash after the file name, following .dmg? Without the forward slash at the end, it just gives me an empty command line as such:

    StudentMacBook6:~ t<REDACTED>2018$

I typed the file path exactly, I don't know why it isn't working.

You don't have to redact your name haha it was on the TedX you posted the other day. Also I am afraid I am crap at mac terminal and UNIX commands in general. Can't remember how I tricked it on an old copy of mine back in the day. I think you're gonna have to be an elevated user to get that to work, might need the Apple equivalent of root which I'm blanking the name on.

Force of habit, I used to post code on StackOverflow all the time. Haha.

Wasn't the TacomaWorld April Fools account named after a Unix root user? UID 0 or something.

Seems like a syntax error, but after reading that thread I'm not sure I understand what you'd be doing wrong
