Just a follow up, I had the repair done about 3 weeks ago. It did fix the sound. You can still hear the fuel pump, but it no longer sound like a pulley bearing going out. Overall, I'm happy with the fix.

... now if I could get rid of the hum in the rear diff (TSB-0013-18 made no change except for it's louder now).

My dealer diagnosed my noise as the HPFP, but said there’s nothing they can do about it. Guess I gotta go back in with the TSB printed out. Lame that I have to do the research...

3,000 miles in post-TSB. Chirp has not returned. I am not embarrassed to be idling with the A/C on anymore!

Sounds like for the most part dealers are doing this while customers wait? Fair assumption?

Wrong. They need a tech to evaluate it and determine it needs replaced. Appointment #1. Then they order the part which is back ordered. Took my pump 17 days to arrive. Then appointment #2 for install. Could take a few hours or all day depending on how busy the shop is at the time. Dropped mine off on a Friday evening and was finished with new HPFP on Saturday at 12 PM.

Talk to the service foreman, if he gives you any BS take it to another dealership if possible. Did you actually have an appointment with a tech or did a service writer tell you this?

Had the truck in for a few other things, including the whining rear diff tsb (which they did, and it has helped that noise a ton).
Added the squealing noise to the list, and when I got the truck back at the end of the day, they said it was HPFP but that there was no fix for it. I even asked if a new pump would help, advisor said no.

They will let you drive with the chirp while part is on order. They should be able it do the install in a single day. A shuttle might be required but a free rental is kind of out of the question IMO.

Found a stellar dealership (finally!) after so many issues with the one I bought the truck from. They gave me a loaner taco for a few days and I think they had my truck for 4 days and replaced my weeping diff gasket, replaced leafs/damper (whine TSB), and replaced my HPFP. Picked my truck up and it's been so wonderful ever since. Only took over a year and a half but it feels RIGHT now!

Ya, it's too bad we can't just call and have them order it before we show up to have it done. That was its only one trip to have it fixed instead of 2. Oh well.

Guess I'll take it in and get it "diagnosed" and parts ordered, then get the howl tsb and this one done at the 15000 mile service.

Had to have a steering rack replaced, so I'm hoping after the howl and HPFP are done, I won't have anymore issues.
    :fingerscrossed:
    We'll see.

Just turned 600 miles on my 18 TRD Sport today and noticed the HPFP chirping noise for the first time. Sounds like a trip to the dealer next week with TSB in hand in case, but it does not show 2018 on it yet...

Id recommend playing dumb and citing a bad pulley. If you go wave papers in their face you're "that guy".

Thanks for this post. I have been hearing this for a few months. I just thought it was part of that direct injection cleaning process or what ever it is that makes it tick. I'm taking my car in for the 10 k service in the next week or 2 and I'm adding this 2 my list of problems I have for them

The tick should be normal and the issue on this thread is a chirping noise like the pulley is giving out

How loud was the sound for those of you that have/had it? Was it slightly heard over the engine noise, or pretty loud?

Like the video on page 1 the "sound" you're referring to is a distinct chirp and can be audible at idle. IDLE.

Took mine in the other day. Was making the noise when I pulled in, then wasn't when the tech went to listen for it. Took a drive around and it was back. He said the pumps are noisy to begin with. He said the ones he's changed out were really loud. Mine is noticeable, but not crazy loud. He said he could put a new one in, but the new one may sound the same. Since I still have quite a bit of warranty left, I decided to wait and see if it gets worse before I have it swapped.

You don't have the chirp then. If there was an audible chirp they would be required to fix it per TSB. Judging by your account name and some of your other posts I'd say you worry way to much.
