Anyone know of the best quality aftermarket TPMS sensors?

Truck has been parked for the last week because there's some crazy rattle/slapping noise coming from the engine, intermittently on a cold start. I took a video of the sound but you can't really tell. It sounds an awful lot like this guys video....

any thoughts?

Going to a work buddy's house on Saturday to diagnose and fix it, hopefully its not major because the Overland rally is next weekend.

Yup. Don't drive it to your buddies house

 

Sounds pretty loud when you're standing right next to it. Sounds too loud to be rod knock. The comments on this video says it eventually was the alternator.

 

Damn.... He has a trailer that can haul it but he lives up by Echo Falls

 

Take the belt off and see if it goes away

 

I could try that, also taking a long screw driver and listening to the different pulleys on the belt.

Couldnt be the timing chain i dont think, i only have 135k on it.

 

I could swing by Friday or Saturday

 

I'll seriously love you forever if i could get your professional opinion. Friday after work would be the best then Saturday i could get it to bills house to help me fix it.

 

Of course this happens right before the overland rally ive been waiting 4 years to go to

 

Already have one. I like the fact that I can check my level without having to get out of the truck

 

Timing chain

@Greddy Might not hurt to find some available bearings. Also timing chain stuff. Those are both projects that could be done this weekend if you had the parts.

 

Could be serpentine idler, could be a pulley for the AC or ps. If it's cold starts, it would seem to be timing chain, as the tensioner is adjusted via oil pressure. First few seconds it's slack until pressure builds up. Over due oil change/thin oil, or low on oil.

I'm getting ready to replace my front engine cover and timing chain components. It's about $250 for the cover and under $100 for the chain/guides/etc.
