Alright guys and gals. Need some input from ya'll.

T wife and I are heading out on our Anniversary Trip on the 29th till the 8th with the truck. Our plan was to just head up the coast, no schedules or anything, just cruise and stop wherever we felt like it at the time, and just take in the sights. She's never been up the coast and I really wanted to show her around Oregon as I have been there a few times myself. Well, after doing some real thinking and looking at the numbers.. Gas is gonna be a killer, not to mention the PCH is still closed till later this year. So, for a backup plan, I started thinking we could hit Utah again like last year, or try Colorado, maybe both. Then I started thinking.. maybe instead of more road miles.. we do less.. and that allows us to camp for a longer period of time, IF we find somewhere we like.

SO.. long story short.. anybody have any good recommendations for off-grid camping in Colorado? Or even a loop? I'd actually like to do more dirt miles this year if possible, especially if we ditch Cali, and go through Utah/Colorado. If we did Utah, we would probably go towards Zion again. It was awesome and we found some awesome places to camp last year. Maybe even a loop from there to Colorado.

If nothing else, we'll just stick to the plan, and/or go up through Vegas and cut around Cali as much as possible to still get to Oregon.

That was the plan.. make our way up to Seattle. but yeah man.. the PCh still being closed is a bummer. I already checked road closures and mapped it. we would miss almost all of it. so maybe we just bypass the coast and go up through yosemite... hmmm

I've never been to Tahoe.. but Crater Lake has the clearest water you will ever see. Thats why I want to take Lyd up the coast, specifically into Oregon. Thinking the Tahoe PCH bypass route might be best for us then.

    nice! good loop.

I just did this real quick. thinking a loop from Crater lake through Grants Pass and back to the coast.. take that south.. then cut over inland at San Fran.

but then I think about it.. and I'd still like to spend more time camping and on dirt. So maybe Colorado is better (closer, quicker to camp)

well if we go through Yosemite, that would be our inland route.. coming back, I'd like to hit the coast as much as possible.. or vice versa. coast then come back inland. Lyd wants to make it all the way to Seattle, which I would be fine with as I have close friends who live there.

this has been my dilemma as well. trying to figure out what to see, what to skip. thats why I even mentioned Utah around Zion again. we went last year, but there just wasnt enough time. I have an amazing camp spot saved too we found on top of Mt Caramel Junction.
