I did the same. I used my inheritance to pay off all debt except my car note and bought a house in cash. I figured at the end of the day I just had to make enough to cover utilities/car note and put some into savings for emergencies. So now my job is super low stress and the pay isn't great but I live comfortably.

The rest is invested making me money and paying my mom out a set monthly income so that both of us will have an income to retire on.

AMEN! love her to death but she's expensive in her own right although she does help me work on the truck and encourages mods which is awesome but costs us more!

That’s awesome really smart decision. I was dumb with money in my 20s in debt to my eyeballs with toys. Now doing ok both of us work she makes really good money but only debt is house, cars an IRS that’s a car payment itself. Both cars will be paid off next year an irs in 2020. Then double payments on house I wanna be completely debt free by 45.
